there's a difference between old and over the hill. he can still play. let's wait to see him fail before replacing him with some rookie from Buttsex, Idaho.

I don't think McFadden is definitely gone. If he stays healthy he was pretty decent last yr, and he only has 1 yr left on his deal. Decent backup for sure.

I do think Dunbar is done and I am guessing Alfred Morris might not need to make any long term real estate commitments in the area.

Sure. But in the excitement of the offseason, DMC is a known quantity who is most likely only going to be last year or slower. Everyone else is ascending in theory. Just more exciting. I like DMC but if they decide not to change the offense to fit him, it really doesn't pay to give him his chances.

why are people so eager to push McFadden out the door?

I don't think eager to push him out, just reading the writing on the wall. 29 years old, injury prone, and has a $2 mil roster bonus coming up. Even if they do end up keeping him I think he gets cut at the end of camp and is resigned after the first game so his salary is not guaranteed for the whole year. Also factor in he's not good at running behind a zone blocking scheme. They had to adjust the OL blocking scheme to accommodate him. It worked because the OL is badass but their strength is zone blocking. Zeke also ran in a zone blocking scheme at OSU so he's comfortable doing to. Morris also had his best success running in a zone blocking scheme. McFadden is just the odd man out.

Maybe I'm in the minority, but I'm a fan of this draft. If they drafted Elliott to truly go back to the 2014 blueprint, it helps everyone. Protect Romo, shield the defense and limit Garrett/Linehan's ability to call ineffective pass plays.

Jaylon Smith could be a home run if he gets healthy. I do get annoyed with the team's whole approach that the second is a gamble round.....you should be mining long term starters there, but Smith might be worth it. I wouldn't have been happy with him at 4 had he been healthy.

I really like the Tapper pick.

Prescott - I've only read negative things about him, but he seems like he has an interesting tool set for a 4th round developmental guy. I just don't have any faith in this team's coaching staff to actually develop him.

Certainly looked like they moved towards the SPARQ stuff this year.

Lots of talk about the depth at RB, but how many times in the past have we complained about this team when they were content to stay with certain players and refuse to even really look for an upgrade. They're throwing numbers at positions now.

Biggest negative about the draft is the huge, huge miss on Tyrone Holmes.

Elliott is a great player, I just think we drafted him too high. 4 is too high for a RB in today's NFL.

Jaylon Smith is a huge gamble and completely destroys the win now mentality the team pretends to be in.

Collins is an almost guy the same way Anthony Spencer was. He almost makes a play, almost makes a sack.

Tapper is one of those players who can look dominant and has great tools. Those types of players require coaching. We don't have the atmosphere to get the most out of players. Jerry tells them all he loves them, Garrett slaps them on the butt, Marinelli might give you a cool nickname, but as far as actual accountability? None.

Prescott is a disaster. Slow release, athletic but not fast. Strong arm but not accurate. Again, we don't have the coaching to maximize what limited talents he has.

Anthony Brown is a JAG CB, the Safety is a JAG. The RB from Eastern Michigan is actually solid but there's no space for him on the roster. The basketball player is intriguing but it's another example of the team wanting to seem clever and innovative.

We did not get better this off-season with the exception of Elliott being a homerun back. If Romo gets hurt, we're a 2-12 team.

Honestly, the best thing for this team is a complete house cleaning of the coaching staff. I really don't think they were going to do enough this offseason to get to the Super Bowl, no matter what Jerry talks about. He's talked about Super Bowl every offseason for like 20+ years now. Personally, I don't think this coaching staff is capable of a Super Bowl run anyway. They'll get out coached against the best of the league the majority of the time.

So, I guess my only complaint is possibly not getting your QB of the future when you were that high.

Except for 2014. That year he came out and said we were in rebuilding mode and that he did not have Super Bowl expectations. Then we went on to go 12-4. This is the guy making decisions on our roster every year.

CMD,Junk see if I've got this right;A)There's a very good chance we lead the league in rushing and blowing 4th quarter leads in 2016.B)We actually drafted some decent enough players, but overpaid(reached) for most of them and aren't capable of knocking the edges off the others C) Our coaching staff and Management should be fired into the Sun,and soon.
Miss anything?
I think I'll go ahead and start drinking now.

Oh, I'm just numb to it anymore. We're Cowboys fans. We can't have nice things because of him. I just focus on the little things that might change. First, getting rid of Garrett.

My wife pays little attention to the draft. She'll casually cheer for the Cowboys because I do. She was just reading the news and was like "Did Dallas really draft a guy who hasn't played football since he was 14?"

I'm already drinking. And have been all weekend!

I think you nailed it especially (C)

I don't get too caught up in the overpaying thing. In 10 years, if Elliott has been a consistent Pro Bowler, who cares if you got him at 4 or got him at 8 with an extra fourth rounder. Just be happy you hit on the pick.

I have been so frustrated the past several years. Jerry has made me hate the draft. I wonder what it would take for me to stop caring and I'm pretty sure a Dak Prescott-led Cowboys could do it.

Here's a scenario for you. Garrett gets canned this year and Jerry replaces him with a newly promoted Wade Wilson.

Supposedly Patriots wanted him pretty bad. Decided to trade one of their 2s after we took him.

That may be all fine and good, but let's be real: the Patriots have an infrastructure to develop that sort of player; the Cowboys do not. So it really does not mean anything when the Cowboys pick up a player that the Patriots wanted.
