Many years ago, before Midswat was eating solid food, Tony Dorsett was a rookie and it was Landry's responsibility to phase Dorsett into the offense. Landry was patient and conservative. ... and during that first season it seemed to take forever before Dorsett got much playing time. I don't remember the specifics, but I'm sure the story will be detailed by sportswriters soon.
To my (admittedly at times faulty) recollection the problem was Tony wouldn't run to the hole the plays called for, he would "run to daylight" and Landry didn't like that. Then one day in practice Tony totally reversed field and scored on a long run. Landry told him "Now see, that would never happen in a game." But then the following Sunday, the exact same play was called and the exact same thing happened - Tony reversed field and scored on a long run. Afterwords Landry said he had to admit Tony was a "different back" and had to adjust his own thinking on the running game and just accept that Tony's "gift" was what it was - special and from then on loosened the reigns on Tony and even moved him up to starter.

Another issue was, Tony had trouble picking up the protection schemes in the system, and the receiving responsibilities, so Preston Pearson remained the starter for 6 weeks into the season.

Dodd or Ogbah... One of them will be there when we pick.

.

I think the more I read input from the galactically retarded CZ-ers, the more I'm convinced Ogbah should be the pick. They hate the guy. They act like he is a rookie free agent caliber talent. I have to admit I haven't see a ton of his games, but he did make quite a few plays in the few games I did see. Then I look up his production and I see 17.0 and 17.5 tackles for loss last two years, 11.0 and 13.0 sacks last two years. 9 passes defensed. 4 forced fumbles. This in a guy that's close to 6'4, about 275 and had one of the better combine workouts for his position. What the fuck are those idiots complaining about?

And yeah, I like Dodd too. Was really impressed with him and would be happy with either.

Good. Sit and take BPA at 34. Plenty of good ones left.

Sturm is reporting your man Myles Jack is under consideration at 34 now. FWIW

If it was Fisher reporting it, we'd know it has no chance of being true. But its Sturm so there might be something to it.

RB in the first means defense in 2&3. no qb til RD4, please.

Looking that way.

I still like Cook though and wont be disappointed if we pick him.

Hackenberg in the 3rd if we somehow had an extra pick would be ok with me.

4th give me Brandon Allen

5th or later give me Kevin Hogan I guess

Ian Crapreport saying at least 5 teams talking to Cowboys about trading out of 34.

Probably means phones are dead silent.

if we do move down. Here's some intel on what we could anticipate:

34- 40= 60 pts, about mid to middle/late 4th rd pick
34-45= 110pts, late 3rd/early4th
34-50= 160 pts, late 3rd
34-60= 260pts, very high 3rd

Would love it if we could come out of tonight with 3 picks instead of just 2.

Would also love us to add at least one more tomorrow...we don't have a 5th and we have a big gap between where we pick at end of 4th to where we go mid 6th. Of course extra 4th would be idea but coming away with an extra 5th if nothing else isn't bad either.

Ravens wanted Ramsey... not EE.

Fuck we should've taken the trade.

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap30...s-tried-for-no-4-pick-jalen-ramsey-the-target

After the top two picks in Thursday night's draft, the Ravens knew the Chargers would select Joey Bosa and the Cowboys were listening to offers for the No. 4 overall pick.

"San Diego is taking Bosa," assistant general manager Eric DeCosta announced in Baltimore's war room. "Bosa was on the phone for two hours on Tuesday night with (Chargers Owner) Dean Spanos."

At that point, per vice president of public and community relations Kevin Byrne, Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome called the Cowboys with a proposal for the fourth pick.

When Dallas countered, Newsome replied, "No, we won't go there."

Who was Newsome's target? According to Jeff Zrebiec of the Baltimore Sun, it was Florida State cornerback Jalen Ramsey, who went one pick later to the Jaguars.

Under Newsome, the Ravens' draft philosophy has been to target the best available player. Ramsey was obviously high on their board.

Unable to land Ramsey, Newsome ended up staying put and selecting Notre Dame left tackle Ronnie Stanley.

maybe they felt Bmore was lying about no interest in Zeke. plus, Bmore was only offering a 4th rounder for switching.
