Whoever started the Judd Garrett ineptitude discussion a few weeks ago may be onto something. Streets is lost and Williams is on
Y good for one good catch a game average. You wonder if Streets and Williams were undrafted free agents at the time when Beasley was auditioning, if they would have made the team?
My guess is the director of scouting somehow pushed these two meat loaves in Jason's head as the right kind of player. How could Streets be under developed and slow but slated as NFL ready to start games. Or that Williams who body catches and does not catch above his chin is being expected to high point?

Street was picked because he was coached at Pitt by Jason's BFF Paul Chryst at Pitt. Has to be.

Yep. To me, Patmon is a perfect example of a spare getting pumped up into a good+ player by the media around here. "Hey, he reminds everyone of Scandrick!" "Kiffin said he was like Ronde Barber in his tryout!" Give me a break.

And we've all known our safeties stink forever.

Baseball plays 162 but only 1 wild card game? I havent watched many baseball games this season but this should be good.

Nope, it's a one game winner take all... relatively new rule. Think it started 3 years ago? They added one more team from each league for 10 total playoff teams. Didn't want to make a "play-in" series too long, because the other teams are sitting around waiting on them.

Is that the line at cz now? Are we still rebuilding?

The rebuild was basically complete when we went 12 and 4 with a playoff win last year. Jason added depth to the roster and brought in RKG's after completely turning over the a roster full of aging and under performing players. We are now built with depth to compete and win long term and Jason put us and the team in the right direction......

I think I hit on most points but you get the picture. It's sickening.

Last season was the last, best chance for this collection of dullards. If any team needs to have a "fire sale" it's us.

One day when we get a real HC back in here, it'll be funny to watch him gut all this talent Jerry and Jason have collected.

What's more scary is that we just can't seem to upgrade guys like Heath and Church. I mean, that's nearly impossible seeing how bad they are.

Won't make a bit of difference if you still keep the same scouting department, that brought in this talent.

To this day... I want to know who is the fucking scout for the secondary, that chose CB Akwasi Owusu Ansah (4th round draft pick) from Indiana University of Pennsylvania to convert him into a safety, over Kam Chancellor who was picked a round later? I want to know if he is still on staff.

With that logic, you would have to fire every scout in the NFL for passing on Chancellor.

That was fun. Was a good game.

I don't give a fuck about every other scout in the NFL, just that on the Cowboys. The one that thought to choose a full round earlier, a CB from a never-heard of Div III school with the name of one state, while being in another... and converting said CB into a safety over one that was established.

I think you are missing my point. Everyone missed on Chancellor, otherwise he would have been a top 10 draft pick. To single out the Cowboy scouts for doing it is silly. Ansah was obviously a failed pick, but the Cowboys have done a really good job of drafting over the past couple of years. They have hit on a number of high draft picks and have also found players late in the draft and as free agents.

My apologies for disrupting your relentless rants. I promise i won’t do it again.

No. You're missing the point. The point is that this scouting department with the secondary has whiffed quite a bit. The Kam Chancellor was just the biggest and most obscene one.

Everlasting I think you're missing lazs point.

His point is that the team had a need at safety.

Some cowboys scout not only whiffed on chancellor, but they did so while favoring (and waaaay over drafting) an athlete from a small school who just wasn't very good. We took a major project from a tiny school.

On top of that, we've for years addressed the safety position in this fashion - taking project draft players AOA/JJ Willbust etc or relying on undrafted free agent nobodies who despite being try hard RKG's never pan out.

Safety has been our Achilles ever since Mark Brunnell hit Santana Moss deep TWICE in the waining moments of a lost MNF game to the Redskins. 12 years. Yet the team remains steadfast in their inane approach to fielding the position.

It's aggravating af.

My point is EVERY team missed on him, not just the Cowboys. Even if you didn’t have a need at safety, would you still pass up on a Kam Chancellor? Nobody knew his potential. I think he is a bad example to use.

I don’t see the point in revisiting every mistake the Cowboys scouting department has made over the last 20 years. There have been plenty of bad picks, we all know that. We also don’t know what the scouts are saying or how they are rating the safeties. We do know Jerry hasn’t always followed his board in the past.

I don’t know why the Cowboys continue to devalue the safety position. Maybe it’s a scheme thing? Maybe they felt burned by Roy Williams flaming out at a young age?

I am not a fan of Church or Wilcox. I thought they were showing some improvement this season. These last two games, not so much. Hopefully Bryon can take over for Wilcox at some point. I do like him although he is probably going to get killed against Gronk on Sunday.

Kam was just an example. Don't get hung up on him.

And how were drafting is a fickle thing. Are we really that much better?

OL looks suddenly average. Escobar never plays. Claiborne draft was bad. Lawrence hasn't done anything. I don't have all our recent drafts in front of me to breakdown, but I wouldn't crown our scouting department just yet.
