If the Cowboys are making decisions based on a 2016 6th round pick, we have our head up our asses. How many Geoff Swaim's do we need?

What I mean is, if they had Brinkley and another player on equal ground, and the only difference was the 6th, then I can see why they would choose the free pick.

No, we had to eat that money.

No, they've paid him a bonus of $1,250,000 of the $2,000,000 guaranteed and have to eat the bonus. The remaining $750,000 of salary is guaranteed but will be reduced by whatever the Giants (and any other team) pays him this year, therefore reducing the total cap hit from the original $2,000,000

The Cowboys guaranteed Brinkley $2 million when they signed him as a free agent, including $1.25 million to sign. Dallas still owes him $750,000 in guaranteed money, or the difference between what he receives from another team up to $750,000.

That's what I meant. Maybe I misread your question.

I thought it was obvious we weren't going to have to eat his salary if he signed with someone else.

I only give back what’s given to me. Anything positive i say i get told “go you know where if you want to be positive”. The Zone attacks those that are negative all the time. Here yall attack those that are positive. There has to be a happy medium somewhere. Both forums are too one sided.

I don’t care what people believe. It’s a message board man, i like debating shit. When did yall become so sensitive?

I peruse three boards and its like following a crazy church split. All three places are sensitive in their own way and endlessly crack me up.

Cowboysown is uber positive (yet incessantly butt hurt over the Cowboys Zone forum like a jilted school girl who cant get over the guy that dumped her.....there doesn't seem to be a thread where someone doesn't take a veiled shot at the place they were all so glad to leave). Nice guys but overly sensitive, imo

Cowboyszone is a cocktail of positive and negative fans (referred to as "real/true fans" vs "realists" respectively) that is over moderated by one or more assholes

This place is like the wild, wild west and/or shooting the shit with my buddies where we all tell each other to fuck off, etc as a way of busting each others balls and having a good time.

I get a lot of entertainment from following all three, there's a load of characters in each place and who gives a fuck what anyone says, its the internet full of random blokes you'll likely never meet who will never impact your life in any meaningful way.

Mostly entertaining, occasionally enlightening

I probably didn't phrase my question worth a shit

You cry about being attacked here, and we're the ones who are being sensitive? LOL

Cowboys signed Brinkley to a 2-year deal, worth $6.5M, $2M guaranteed. That $2M guaranteed includes the $1.25M signing bonus and a $750k of his 2015 base. The Giants signed him, not sure for how much yet, but the vet minimum for Brinkley (5 years) should be $745k, so the Cowboys owe him $5k of additional money.

As far as the cap, I would think the Cowboys are on the hook for his 2015 cap number of $1.625M with a dead cap hit of $625K next year. Overthecap.com has him for a dead money hit of $1.375M, not sure how they got to that number. They are most likely right, just not sure how they got to that number.
Thanks for the clarification.

Is that $1.375M number for 2016?

I’m not crying. In this thread, there were two posters that took a jab at me. My response was a little jab at them in return. Like i said, they give it to me, i give it back. I had a mod literally tell me that he had enough of my positivity. Are you fucking serious? I have had another 2 or 3 other posters let me know if i wanted to be positive to go back to the Zone. I have a lot respect for your opinion but you are off the mark here.

If Brinkley isn't better than someone like Gachkar (who costs less) AND by waiving him they increase the comp pick formula further in my favor for next yr, then why keep him?

I think they are satisfied now that Rolando McClain is going to be good to go when his suspension ends, they know what they have in Hitchens and then Gachkar showed pretty well at all 3 LB spots as well. Brinkley wasn't needed.

I can't figure a way Dallas loses this game unless we lose Tony early in it. And even then we probably win a FG battle with the feckless Giants.

Dallas.

According to ESPN Dallas today, it was Keith Smith who just outplayed Brinkley and made Brinkley unnecessary. Definitely saw that in preseason. Smith was everywhere.

Midswat is the vBookie guy starting middle of last season.

HOWEVER I am giving everyone 100K to start the new season.

I think we should only be allowed to bet once. Hedging your bets kind of takes away the fun. Just a thought.

I'm amending this to add - if we have a bunch of stupid penalties and turnovers yeah, we can lose to this Giants team. This is the NFL, you can't expect to win games turning the ball over. Tony Romo and Dez, notwithstanding.

So you post at the Own and don't share any tidbits here? Not that there's a whole lot of intellectually stimulating discussion.....but still. And who are the nice guys? All the arrogant know it all's congregated there initially from what I gather and then they couldn't put up with each other and friction ensued.
