How bad is the NFC South?

Even if the Aints win tonight, every team in the division has a losing record at the half way point, and unless they win by more than 11 pts every team in the division will have given up more pts than they have scored.

Combined record of NFC South right now, 8-20-1. AFC South not too far behind though at 12-20

Really? 19 QB's in the league had QB ratings over 90 going into today, and two others had a QB rating between 89-90

30 QB's had a QB rating over 80
Average QB rating is the highest it's ever been in 2014. It's all relative.

You were the one talking about how easy it is to play offense now.

Or is it only our rivals who face bad qbs ...

It is easy, hence why QB's are playing at such a high level.

QB ratings in the 90's arnt proof of "terrible QB play"

Even though the Redskins arnt very good, I think we do learn something about our team tonight.

This is a major league trap game to say the least. Its been a crazy season in the NFL so far, if our guys can stay focused and take care of business I think its further proof that something is really different with our team this time.

I don't think beating a 2-5 team that is now starting its third string QB at home will prove much of anything except that the team bus didn't crash on the way to the stadium.

I think it'd be an indication of how focused the team is (or isnt).

Washington's offense ranks 7th overall in yards per game. Their passing yards per game ranks 5th overall in the NFL.

And the Dallas defense gives up 6.1 yards per play, which is tied for 4th worst in the NFL.

Washington's offense has had some problems, obviously (e.g., they haven't scored a lot of points, their team is -9 in turnovers).

But it isn't so difficult to imagine the Washington offense getting on a roll vs. the Dallas defense.

The problem I have is imagining they can even begin to stop this Dallas offense.

I WAS leaning toward picking Washington - McCoy was 11-12 in his first real action - but I have decided to stick with the Boys on this one.

Dallas 41
Washington 21

Yeah, I think you are right about the Washington defense having its hands full with the Dallas offense. But strange things sometimes happen in games.

If the Washington offense is successful against the Dallas defense and the Cowboys misfire on a few drives, settle for field goals on a few other drives, and have a few turnovers, maybe that changes Linehan's approach.

(Yeah, I know that Linehan's hand has been steady earlier this season when the team has fallen behind, but if things were to go bad enough ....).

Can this game hurry up so i can start thinking about the Arizona match up. Crazy how they blitz the house late in games with everything on the line. The D-coordinator has some big balls.

9000 on the Cowboys and enough on the redskins to cover my bet. 6-1. Why not?

You simply cannot commit turnovers in the NFL. That's the main reason Washington has the record it has.

But truly, this Dallas offense is a "pick your poison" one not unlike Norv's bunch in the 90s. But even that one stumbled now and again and lost games the #1 defense in the league could not salvage for them. So yeah.

Late last night,Fox Sports Arizona reran 'Cardinals OT' a local version of the 'OT' that runs on Fox after games.
The interviewer asked Arians about how much they blitz.
Don't remember the actual coachspeak verbatim, but he essentially said,"It's what we do and our secondary can cover"

I was thinking all during that game yesterday that the Eagles WRs can't compare to ours, though. Maclin is pretty good, but they don't have that Dez/AJ Green/Julio Jones guy that you can throw the ball up to and let him go get it. If they blitz that much against us, I think Tony will make them pay.

Plus I bet Peterson is out. He got knocked silly yesterday.
