All I'm asking for is some Common Sense car control...

One Killed, 5 Tourists Wounded in Tel Aviv Terror Attack, Assailant Shot Dead

According to police, he was identified as 44-year-old Yousef Abu Jaber from the Israeli Arab city of Kafr Qasem.

A relative of the assailant told Haaretz that "we cannot believe he did such a thing, it's inconceivable that Yusef, a very quiet and respectful person, would do it. We are in total shock and if we had known in advance that he'd do it then we would have prevented it. He never showed any radical signs, and he's never had any ideological background."

The attacker was married and was a father of five daughters.

The mother of the two British-Israeli sisters killed in the terrorist shooting attack in the Jordan Valley on Friday is still in critical condition, reports said Saturday.

The incident on Road 57 near Hamra junction was initially reported as a traffic accident, but an initial investigation found that the terrorists fired at the Efrat family’s vehicle, causing it to veer to the shoulder and crash. They then fired again at the car to ensure that they had hit those inside.

20-year-old Maya and 15-year-old Rina Dee were killed on the spot, while their mother Lea, 48, is in critical condition. Over 20 bullet casings were found at the scene.

Their father was driving in a separate vehicle ahead of them and arrived at the scene after rescue efforts had begun. The family was on its way to a holiday destination in Tiberias, reports said.

Japan’s Defense Ministry announced Tuesday it has signed contracts worth nearly 380 billion yen ($2.8 billion) with the country’s top defense contractor, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, to develop and mass produce long-range missiles for deployment as early as 2026 amid growing fears of China’s increasing military strength.

The ministry said the contracts include enhanced versions of Mitsubishi’s Type 12 missiles for surface, sea and air launches, and a hypersonic ballistic missile for the defense of remote islands.

Mass production of Type 12 land-to-ship guided missiles and hypersonic gliding missiles, which have already been developed, will begin this year, the ministry said. Officials refused to provide the number of missiles that Japan plans to deploy but indicated that production is expected to gradually increase over the next five years.

The G-7 envoys from Japan, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Canada, Italy and the European Union have underlined that their meeting in Karuizawa, Japan marks a crucial moment in the world’s response to Russian and Chinese aggression, two crises that are seen as challenges to the post-World War II rules-based international order. Global efforts to confront the matters at the United Nations have been stymied by Chinese and Russian intransigence on the Security Council.

“There can be no impunity for war crimes and other atrocities such as Russia’s attacks against civilians and critical civilian infrastructure,” the ministers said.

“We remain committed to intensifying sanctions against Russia, coordinating and fully enforcing them,” the communique said, and would support “for as long as it takes” Ukraine as it defends itself.

The foreign ministers’ document was prepared as a template for global leaders to use at a G-7 summit that will be held in Hiroshima next month, and included language about Iran, Myanmar, Afghanistan, nuclear proliferation and other “grave threats.”

Joint Chiefs shuffle: Biden’s top contenders to replace Trump’s military leaders

Besides the chair, the Pentagon could also see new leaders for the Army, Navy, Marines and possibly the Air Force this year.

As many as five members of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the eight most senior uniformed leaders who advise the president on military issues, are scheduled to leave their assignments this year. Besides the Joint Chiefs chair, the heads of the Army, Navy, Marine Corps and potentially the Air Force are all set to leave. Three of the military’s top operational commanders are changing over as well: The heads of Northern Command, Space Command and Cyber Command.
