Where does not kicking the field goal at the end of the first half rank

Story of the season. Missed opportunities. I don’t know what to think about Garrett. I don’t know what i would do with him if i was the owner. It looked like he was improving and the team is playing hard for him but he just screws way too many times. He blew at least two games this year. I hate his scheme and play calling. It’s so boring, uncreative and outdated.

The direction they were kicking to was into the wind. (What wind their was). The air was also cold, and the ball does not carry as well. I dont think either kicker came close to the end zone in that direction on kickoffs.
I still dont think its an issue at all, alot of coaches wouldnt have tried a 51 yd FG in that situation either.
The Skins did score a TD from about the same distance/yard line and timing on Turkey Day, I'm sure that played into their thinking as well.
The bigger gaffe was the long snapper and punter not quick snapping when the Skins had all those players on the field. The other 5yds would have definitely got us a FG attempt.

Bored with sugar bowl and was flipping channels. NFL replay was showing the game again so the masochist in me watched some of it again. What made matters worse about that missed FG oppurtunity /punt was the Redskins were confused and didn't have the proper personnel on the field.
The skins only had seven players on the field with no one covering our gunners and no one deep and we still went through with the punt. Why not check out of the punt? Missed opportunity.

The biggest fuck up in the entire situation was passing on that 3rd down.
If 51 is too far and 48 isn't, why wouldn't you run? Fuck, 3 yards isn't that damn much. Even with this shitty OL, 3 yards could be had if you run out of a passing formation.
Not to mention you keep the clock rolling and force Washington to use their timeout....and if they are too fucking stupid to do it, you use your timeout with 3 seconds left and kick the FG anyway with no worry of giving Washington a short field.
