Same, but add about 2500 or so oilwells.
We got awl up here too but it's mostly north of Amarilla out in the counties. I worked as rounds foreman for a big awl lease down around Corsicana back in the day. It's a take it or leave it job for me. Pays great but lots of off-road driving, lots of mechanicin in oil-mud and shit.

Lol, you ain't wrong. Not too bad around here, but has it's moments. Worked for a bearing supply house back in the 80's that loaned me to their Perryton store for about 8 months.
I drove their hotshot truck during that time. Many times had a Cat or a maintainer waiting to escort me to location cause there was a literal river of mud and tarry oil for several miles.

They ain't nuthin up here but cows and plows. Pivot irrigation and dust. Just the way we like it, keeps the riff-raff out. Here's last night's sunset.

If you didn't have the moisture you wouldn't have the heat index, and you wouldn't enjoy all the rain y'all get down there. In Palo Duro Canyon near me it's normal to see 110 and up at the canyon floor. That's heat.

Heat Index for this weekend.... 110F o_O

It’s supposed to be 98 here in LA for the next couple days.

No heat index, 98 feels like 98

116 tomorrow. My AC is about to get a workout.
I helped a neighbor replace their filters and I sprayed down the outside radiator fins, to make the unit as efficient as it could be.

It's usually hotter near the southern border. But it can feel hotter in other parts of the state depending on the humidity level, or dew point level.

What's "Northern Texas?"

I live far more North than say, Dallas... But that area is called "North Texas."

Up here atop the Llano Estacado also known as the Cap Rock, we have altitude approaching 3000 feet and are generally much drier than most of the state, but we still get the brutal heat. Texline, which is as far North and West as you can get in Texas, broils.

Dallas and points South and East have generally higher humidity therefore it "feels" hotter than it actually is, usually. "Hill Country" and the Big Bend border region are just plain hot and arid.

Texas has five different climate categories according to region.

Thx for the link Dooms
How hot it gets in summer depends greatly on atmospheric conditions such as a dome of high pressure air stuck over your region, it suppresses cloud formation and works like a magnifying glass concentrating heat. Example - last summer stayed pretty mild, we had only one 100 degree day all summer long.

We get these high pressure heat waves once about every 8 years.

106 here today, predicted tomorrow 108.
Remember back in the late 80s one time it was over 100 like a month or so, 80s and 90s late into the night. Damn swamp cooler I had shat the motor and ending up camping out in my back yard, way too hot in that old double wide I had. Weirdly enough I enjoyed sleeping outdoors, but old gal I was with then didn't, lmao.
