Owusu-Ansah, Sean Lee questionable

SAN ANTONIO -- Wade Phillips just finished up his daily news briefing and said the team will work Friday on what they might do against Cincinnati in the preseason opener.

Some coaches like to game plan for the preseason, but not Phillips, who wants his teams to run their offense or defensive packages.

*Sean Lee is questionable for Sunday's preseason opener, as is rookie safety Akwasi Owusu-Ansah. Sean Lissemore, Pat Watkins, Dez Bryant and Montrae Holland are out.

"The other day when we made the list for the game, we didn’t include him, but that could change, " Phillips said of Lee. "He has practiced and practiced well. He may see some action.

*Titus Ryan and Cletis Gordon will return kicks vs. the Bengals and in practice, Owusu-Ansah did it on scout team. Ryan will also return punts. Expect Stephen McGee, John Phillips, Tashard Choice, Sam Hurd, Kevin Ogletree and Leon Williams to see plenty of playing time. With so many snaps going to first-teamers, it slows up just how many reps a backup can get in practice.

*The best thing about Thursday's practice was the reaction to the offensive linemen getting their crazy haircuts. Before the start of the second practice as some of the rookie linemen, who got haircuts, came out onto the field, Phillips gave them a ovation. On Wednesday, Jon Kitna banged his hand, nonthrowing, on a helmet. Kitna began to shake it and sought some medical treatment. He was fine. As a joke on Thursday, after a snap, Tony Romo and Marc Colombo grabbed their hands in pain and Andre Gurode hit the turf also in pain. The entire first unit was making fun of Kitna's hand getting nicked up.
"They thought he cried too much when he banged his hand," Phillips said. Later Phillips said of the joking around, "They can laugh every once and a while. It's a heavy work load."
After Kitna realized the first-team was making fun of him, he threw a ball at Colombo and Romo.

*Martellus Bennett is running pretty well in camp, yet, his ankle still gives him some problems. He's got a slight limp and the team is still cautious with him.

"We are but he's still practicing," Phillips said. "He's got the right attitude and working through it in practice. he's still sore and yo can see him limp some and he caught a lot of passes [Thursday morning] and he's working on his blocking. If we hold him out it will be because of us, not because of him."

Nice, joke about an injury.

Let's hope none of you guys get hurt in the preseason opener.
