Actually, after reviewing the video a number of times, I think we got it all wrong. Haynesworth was holding his gap from the horizontal position. Just in case Vick spun around and ran the other direction twards Haynesworth side, Haynesworth would be able to trip him up.

I counted 10 seconds that he was down, including when he got to his knee. If Haynesworth would have gotten up, even 5 seconds earlier, either him or Carter (#99) could have sacked Vick. Vick was right there.
