Agreed. This would make me feel better (or worse) about the trade. The reality is we may never know. I think we were shortchanged and Jerry got the short end of the stick once again. But I also know we weren't going to go any further with Parsons. The most important person on the field is under center. This team will go as far as he takes us, which will be nowhere.
Thats why the only real "win" for us in this deal is if we somehow emerge with somebody far closer to Aikman and less like Prescott and Romo as our next franchise QB.

Prescott was not good last yr even before he got hurt. If he plays that way again this year they absolutely have to come to the conclusion they HAVE to find the next guy in the 26 or 27 draft.

This would have made me feel better as well. We may never see another generational talent like Micah fall in the draft to us....I mean, the kid slipped to #12.

But for all the jaw clenching, just wait until Jerry burns the newly acquired draft capital to move up for some guy that would have fallen to us anyway. You just know it........Jerry's a bum and he just wants to feel like Jimmy and be a wheeler and dealer once last time before he meets his maker. There's more pain in our future. Book it.....
If they use it to get aggressive and pull the trigger on a guy they believe is a true high end #1 QB, I'm good with that.

They need to stop depending on "let's hope we get lucky" and instead identify THE guy they really want and then go get him. If it doesn't work out then so be it, but you have to trust the scouts and coaches if they are saying "this guy is a perfect fit for our system and the NFL game and can take us farther than Prescott or Romo ever did"

They don't need another one of these guys. They need an Aikman/Elway/P Manning type

In theory, this allows us to build some depth, and that depth will help Prescott win more games, assuming he stays healthy.

Had we had 2 number ones this past April we might have had a shot at Jeanty and I still think Jeanty is going to be a STUD!

I've always wondered what the process is. Do they have a suite in the Star for players like this to stay at until they get situated or do they have accounts set up at a nearby apartment complex for the players to stay at?

I imagine they have personal real estate agents who go out with the wife and the wife picks out a home, but it takes time. These people are so friggin rich that they can just throw out the current furniture or give it to Goodwill or something.

Or maybe he will rent his Green Bay place to Micah?
I don't know what it looks like today, but I think BB's former lovebunny from the Zone used to do something like this for the team.

He might can comment since he spent many a night under her, er I mean chasing her.

Agree with you on Jeanty.

Not sure on the Prescott thing. I think for him to REALLY win it would take a combination of elite coaching plus elite talent around him. We've had some pretty good talent around him most years and that didnt work, and we know Jerruh wont allow himself to hire a bigtime HC who absolutely could change the entire culture.

Something that I would like to point out about all these people pointing out Parsons' sack numbers is that YES, they are impressive. But basically the way Dallas used him was as a pure pass rusher. When you look at the stats from a a player like Aaron Donald, for example, he didn't basically only rush the passer.

Two years ago, the Packers handed the Cowboys their ass. They had Clark. We had Parsons.

There's another guy (assuming he fully recovers) that we now have a better chance of resigning.

Everyone is talking about what the Packers got, but unless the Packers had a fantastic draft, the Packers just lost at least 2 players on the roster next year that they would prefer to keep.

And that could mean that the second number one pick becomes a better pick than we now are predicting.

The Packers have a cap to deal with too. It might be SB or bust for the Packers.

I've seen worse QBs than Dak win it all. It takes a team.

My biggest problem with Dak is his contract situation, going back to the first one and then playing on the franchise tag.

For all that people claim Dak brings, they always ignore what his contract takes away.

Sure, a guy like Tyler Smith is better than a Connor McGovern, but when you can't pay a Connor McGovern, you're forced to replace the position so you're not really getting any better.

Like did we really get better at LG by having to replace Zack?

If we can keep more good players and create more stability then draft picks can go to shore up other positions instead of just replacing positions.

That's my biggest gripe with Dak. His contract hurts the team concept!

I enjoyed this analysis the most:

The problem that I see with Tanenbaum's analysis and others is that I think there was a point at which Jerry truly wanted to resign Parsons. He gave him an offer of 202 million over 5 years. He didn't want to trade Parsons.

So when they say things like, "you lost D-Law, you lost Lewis, ..oh gee...if only you had done it sooner, you dope...etc." Well, yeah, that was all designed to re-sign Parsons. But just like Dak Prescott did, they apparently balked at the 5 year deal so they can have another bite at the apple.

AND THIS IS WHY NOBODY should EVER compare Dak to Mahomes or Josh etc. Mahomes is truly a team player. He TRULY wants to win championships. His contract made headlines, but everyone overlooked that it was a 10 year deal!

Tom Brady consistently took less money so he could have a team around him. I'd bet there were teams willing to pay him more than Tampa did.

I decided to look up Joe Burrow's contract. Guess what? It is a 5 year deal. Jerry tries to get 5 year deals and these players say no.

I don't know who that is.
There was a couple of them I believe.

They were basically assisting new Cowboy players with living situations. I dont know how long they did it or what the process looked like. I think she or they may have explained it before but I dont remember. I was too busy trying to figure out how BB wasnt suffocated in these "situations"

I just have to say regarding the Parson poll dbair1967 created:

Mr. dbair, what you did is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever seen. At no point in your rambling, incoherent & locked before it started poll were you even close to anything that could be considered an actual poll. Everyone in this forum is now dumber for opening that thread. I award you no likes, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Literally as soon as I created it the trade was announced. Thats why I locked it.

The rest of it looks like whining to me and we don't allow that at DCU.

Lastly, give me the likes I deserve for putting that up. I had no idea what a true visionary I was at the time.
