So, let them strike ! ! ! (I've got toilet paper, thank you!!)

The Biden administration was putting pressure on railroads and unions Wednesday to settle their differences and avert a strike. But just in case that doesn’t work, the administration was also working on a plan to use trucks and planes to move goods that are normally carried by freight railroads.

The White House is clearly worried that any disruption in supply chains just weeks before the November midterm elections could anger consumers, who are already facing the highest inflation in 40 years. That could hurt Democrats, who are trying to protect razor-thin control of the Senate and House.

Bty, the negotiations between the unions and the companies for these work rules is not an all of a sudden thing. These have been going on for over 2 years.

Biden pushed the possibility of a strike to now. So blame the timing on him, if you like.

"Railroad workers will now be able to take unpaid days off for doctor’s appointments without being penalized under railroad attendance rules. Previously, workers would lose points under the attendance systems that the BNSF and Union Pacific railways had adopted, and they could be disciplined if they lost all their points.

The unions that represent the conductors and engineers who drive the trains had pressed hard for changes in the attendance rules, and they said this deal sets a precedent that they will be able to negotiate over those kinds of rules in the future. But workers will still have to vote whether those changes are enough to approve the deal."

Has anyone calculated how much this deal will cost the railroads? The one time bonus, or retroactive wage increases, alone will cost around $1.265 billion. The 24% wage increase on top of that will cost another $2 billion over 2 years, and add $2 billion to railroad costs every year after that.

Why does this matter? It matters because railroads are not going to absorb these extra expenses. There will be job cuts and fee increases. It will cost more to ship good by rail which will increase the price of goods which will lead to more inflation. These costs will be passed along to consumers and businesses that consume resources shipped by rail. One industry that will be hit hard is the petroleum industry. We will see increases in gas and heating oil prices.

If Biden is going to take credit for this deal, just hold that thought because by 2024 the effect of this deal will be hitting our wallets pretty hard.

I call total bullshit on this.

How is that even possible?

This railway deal may help avert a disastrous strike in the short term, but it will cost the railroad industry $3 million over the next 2 years and another $2 billion every year after that. The railroad are not going to take that money out of earnings, they are going to lay off workers, cut other expenses and pass the rest off as transport rate fee increases. We will all pay for his deal with higher prices on goods and more inflation that will erode our savings. Joe Biden is taking credit now but I bet when the impact of this deal hits consumers he will be nowhere to be found, and Karine Jean-Pierre will be blaming Trump or Putin.

For those that followed the January 6th hearings or whatever that was called:

1. were witnesses sworn in and under penalty of perjury or any other legal repercussions for not being truthful?

2. What is the purpose of the types of events?

3. Why didnt they indict & prosecute vs having a hearing?

I'll add one more:

What's it called when one side picks all the witnesses, prescreens all the questions and answers and decides what evidence gets admitted vs what evidence is not allowed?

Apparently Mr Potato Head went on national TV via 60 minutes last night and embarrassed the shit out of himself again.

I heard some of his responses. Next to the word "jackass" in the dictionary, is a picture of Joe Biden.

His answers to the question about inflation explain everything about this turd. First, inflation is up 8.2% over last year. But in actuality some staples are up much more. I paid $6.29 for a pound of butter yesterday. 18 months ago I was paying about $4.40. Eggs are up almost 100% over 18 months ago. Rents are up well over 25%. The things we need to live our lives as we did before this dolt was elected have increased in price well more than the 8.2% reflected in the governments BS inflation numbers. Gas alone is still up more than 50% over what it was 18 months ago, and while down from 120% the fact is Biden is dumping oil from the strategic oil reserve on the global markets draining the reserve to lower prices. At some point the reserve will be depleted and that dumping will stop. Prices will go up again. But it gets worse, Biden will have to divert oil from US supplies back into the SOR to refill it. That will cause further shortages and higher prices. We are going to be clobbered by oil prices in about 6-10 months. What Biden is doing is irresponsible. He is putting the nation's energy supply at risk to avoid an embarrassing defeat at the polls in November.

He is a simple fact. Prices will never go down to what they once were until Biden's policies on reversed. We will pay $6 for butter, and $4.50 for eggs until our government stops screwing with the economy for their political agenda.
