McCarthy didnt leave over money, he left because they only wanted to give him a 3yr deal.

And McCarthy was not paid bottom of the barrel money his 5 yrs here either.

I don't recall Parcells coming here over anything to do with Landry at all. He came back for the money, he needed it and it was well documented at the time. Jones needed Parcells to help get support for his bullshit stadium. They were a match made in hell for all the wrong reasons. Parcells helped change the complete flop of a scouting department they had but he was a shell of his former self as a gameday coach.
"McCarthy didn't leave over money, he left because they only wanted to give him a 3yr deal."

I'm unsure that it is not the same as money. You're right that contract length was the primary reported reason, but unless McCarthy wanted to coach another 2 years for free, then obviously money played a role. Because if the contract is for 5 years at 2 million a year, that means McCarthy would be owed 10 million instead of 6 million.

But you KNOW that specific dollar amounts are not necessarily revealed to the media. So while the media knows about the years, don't you think it is logical that McCarthy also wanted more money to a) go along with more years and b) because it is generally accepted that you get a raise with a new contract?

On top of that, McCarthy won 12 games 3 years in a row, so just like a player, he's going to compare his record to other coaching records who get paid more.

To think that money was not involved is silly. Never mind what dickhead reporters write.

Seems logical to me anyway

He said it himself, that he left because he wanted a 5yr deal.

You are using semantics now. Yes, adding two more yrs is more guaranteed money. But it doesnt mean what he was getting paid annually was "low" which is what this discussion was about.

And yeah, he won 12 games three years in a row. Big fucking whoop. His last yr was a disaster. He won one playoff game in five years and lost two at home when the Cowboys were favorites, including one to a team that barely made the playoffs in fucking embarrassing fashion. The team was woefully unprepared in most of the postseason games, especially the losses to the Niners and Packers.

He won a super bowl eons ago and hasnt won jackshit since despite having a sure fire first ballot HoF QB at one place and another solid starter for almost his entire time in Dallas (including all 3 postseason years)
