I'll go first.
Speed.
WR: If Dallas is condemned to have Bozo as coach, then this 9 route-tree, sack-prone Air Coryell scheme is not going anywhere. The last time a team used this scheme to win a Super Bowl was Peyton Mannings Colts (Harrison and Wayne and Stokley) and the Vermeil Rams featuring 3 wide receivers who were all blazing fast. The 5 wide (or as Sturm called it "the empty backfield" when he said "teams were starting to defend the empty backfield against Dallas by the end of the season) is really only a threat if the WRs are not easily covered and can get open quickly downfield. The "not easily covered" part is not going to work because with Dallas running literally the oldest documented scheme in the NFL, the 9 routes branches are fairly repetitive, so that leaves athleticism. Right now there really isn't anyone on the active roster (Reggie Dunn on then PS notwithstanding) who really legitimizes the 5 wide threat. This current group would be great for a WCO but sluggish if there are no complements of speed to Dez's physicality. There really isn't a DC or a DB in the league right now who are wondering where the Dallas receivers will run when they pull in their strong safety. "Hmmm. Just like on the tape I watched all week, when I stand here, they run right over there every time. Wow, it's true. They do take what the defense gives them."
Defensive End. The loss of Ware left no threat on the roster of really getting quickly into the backfield. Lawrence really is not a fast player but I think he's a good combo of strength and quickness and instincts. Similar to the Dez situation, there needs to be speed as a complement.
DT: Crawford has a little speed hidden in his tenacity and athleticism, but the really, the Warren Sapp type player needs to have explosive speed and quickness. If there is a little more speed next to him at the DE or more punch at the 1 technique, Crawford could be enough. But like Jimmy Johnson said, need speed at every position (Cowboys reflect Johnson's football philosophy - Home - PostBulletin.com).
Safety: Church is a good tactician and he overachieves. He needs a fast and cognitively competent counterpart. Wilcox is a milkbone away from chasing cars.
Speed.
