Apparently, you weren't watching the games. Hawk has been on the decline for awhile now. Packers fans have been crying for his replacement.. Towards the end of this past season he was getting benched in certain packages, like the nickel and dime. Its no surprise he got released.

Ok but decline is usually a trend over time not just one bad season. 2013-2014 was a great season of Hawk ans most most ILBs. And he generally had solid seasons before that until last year. One bad year. Keith Rivers is worse.

Yeah if you could get Hawk for a deal like Rivers signed, then you would probably rathr do that. But I doubt Hawk would take that deal.

even most Packer fans dont think much of him...he's been vastly overrated for years and a liability in pass defense...they had already released him once before and signed him to a much more cap friendly deal...this was the 2nd time the Packers had cut him

Yeah, I don't get the Hawk love here. He seemed visibly slow the last few years. Seems like a Keith Brooking type signing.

He's also 3 years older than Rivers.
