How often do you see a team sign a free agent, and then trade him for a pick the same offseason?

Rarely, if ever. That's pretty impressive. And sounds like Andre Smith could be another Scott Chandler type.

^ agreed

That's not good enough though. I guess some people were expecting a 1st.

I'm with you in that it's a good thing we got some kind of value for two guys (Lissemore and Rosario) that in years past we wouldn't have. My issue is with the overall 53 and the philosophy behind it.

The last time Jerry felt we were oh so close and just needed to shore up the Special Teams was 2009. He did not bring in a single free agent for a visit and had one of the worst drafts in NFL history. Now he thinks trading for a guy who was about to be cut and being the only team to put in a claim on another is going to be the Special Teams boost this team needs. Meanwhile, we are dangerously thin at Guard and Defensive Tackle.

I'm okay with these last two trades, they are marginal impact moves at best. It's the whole strategy regarding the roster that pisses me off.

It seems pretty straightforward at this point. They identified special teams as a critical need and are shaping the bottom of their roster to correct that issue.

I have a number of concerns with the team overall, but I have no problems with the extra 7th round picks.

Are we still at 52 roster spots?

Makes me think we are making one last run at Waters.

I had no clue before reading this. I had to look him up.

And didn't we sign Rosario from the Bears after they didn't want him? Now they're trading a 7th for him? That's something Jerry would do.
