Rookie Class- maybe some positives

The focus on camp has been all the injuries and the comedy at the C position (at some point you really do have to wonder- when do they go get another C, at least somebody to share reps). That said, it would seem our rookie class is looking pretty strong:

1) Claiborne- downer that he's hurt right now, but assuming he's ok he should be fine. Am not worried about him becoming a very good player.

2) Crawford- one of the real positive stories of camp so far. Some were critical on draft day, but this kid appears to be a real player and shows up with impact plays almost daily in practice.

3) Wilbur- quietly also having a strong camp, another guy who seems to stand out almost daily with some really good play.

4) Johnson- incomplete...injured

5) Coale- see Johnson

6) Hanna- another one who very quietly is starting to come on and having a really good camp...had some problems with drops early on (offseason camps) but his speed and hands are starting to stick out in practice, and they say his blocking is getting better too. Hanna has some Jay Novacek type qualities and could turn into an interesting option in 2 TE sets

7) McSurdy- probably has little chance to make the team with the depth at ILB, most likely a PS candidate

We also have what seems like our almost annual crop of pretty good UDFA's

I really havent' heard Wilburs name at all.

And McSurdy is doing his best Amelia Earnhardt impression. No way he makes the team over my homeboy Orie Lemon.

Garrett has an account here. He PM'd me when he registered and I begged him not to tell anyone who he was. He agreed, and asked me not to tell. I haven't.

I won't be impressed with Crawford until we see him against another team... Our OLine would make anyone look good.

One day.

That day will be when unemployed Jason Garrett has a beast draft in our DCU Fantasy League draft.

Even if we hit on smith, Murray, carter, Clai, Crawford, and Wilber you won't admit it ? What do you want from the guy, lol.

I wasn't aware that Carter, Crawford, and Wilber were confirmed "hits" yet.

And Claiborne should be, he literally cost us 3 starters.

What are you talking about? I said even if..meaning if it happens will that be enough..never said they were hits

1st round pick = 1 starter
2nd round pick = 2 starters
Mike Jenkins sulking and not rehabbing because of Caliborne's selection = 3 starters

I like Claiborne a lot, even though I don't agree with the team's "highest graded CB since Deion Sanders" nonsense. But if you ask me if I would rather have Claiborne OR Mike Jenkins plus 2 new starters, I'd take option B.

You're right, you did say IF. I just like how (some) fans are okay with assuming every move we make is a good one but don't allow the idea that a move we made is the wrong one.

I don't even think all those guys will be hits. I went to the extreme to see if you would even give credit if we hit on all those. If you're not willing to, then I know even the best isn't enough for you. That's all I was lookin for.

What move was the wrong move? Moving up for Claiborne? If so, too early to say either way.

You're reaching a bit on jenkins. Nobody knows either way if he'd be ready now.

Mike Jenkins would most likely not held out, sulked, etc. if we hadn't drafted Claiborne. He would be playing for a contract and would have been starting opposite Carr.

With the 14th pick let's say we drafted Michale Brockers (puke) he'd be starting at LDE.

With the 45th pick we could have drafted Peter Konz.

Jenkins, Brockers, Konz would be 3 starters on this team right now.
Claiborne is 1 starter on this team right now.

Again I like Claiborne. I just don't like him as much as the Cowboys apparently did.

If I give you a dollar, and you give me three dollars....

How many dollars did you lose?
