Romo

Would you like to see him remain in Dallas?

Naw, just the discussion of finding Romo's eventual replacement got me to thinking.

No, I'm not voting. There is no undecided option.

We can (and should) draft a quality QB and let him sit for a year or two behind Romo. Releasing or getting rid of Romo for a rookie unproven QB makes no sense. If there was one thing I liked about BP, it was that guys had to compete to keep there jobs and I think competition would be good for Romo at this stage in his career.

Obviously I wouldn't want to get rid of Romo and stick Jordan Rodgers in there.

idk if I want to let Romo walk, draft Barkley and let Payton coach him up. But then again, Romo may be the only reason Payton would come here.

Hence why I am undecided.

As I mentioned in another thread a few days ago, I wouldnt be against moving on from Romo after the year. he only has 1yr left on his deal, and while he has had some good moments this yr he's also had alot of bad ones. I dont know if he is playing hurt or not, but assuming he is healthy then in just looking at the way he is throwing the ball, one would conclude he is starting to get closer to the end. Too many ducks or poorly thrown balls, downfield passing has been poor and his velocity on alot of these throws seems less to me.

He still has trade value and I suspect we'd get at least one #1 pick for him from some QB desperate team like KC or Arizona.

That said, its highly unlikely Jones would have the cajones to make this type of move, and if Garrett is still the HC Romo is a lock to be back. I suspect he'd be a lock to be back (and extended) if either Sean Payton or Mike Holmgren were to replace Garrett as well.

The only way we dont have Romo here next yr or fail to extend his contract IMO is if Jones hired somebody like a Bill Cowher, and gave him control of most of the FO. Cowher doesnt have any affiniti for Romo and likely wouldnt want to have a turnover prone QB as his starter, so he might be inclined to convince Jones to get whatever he can for Romo and go forward with orton for a yr or twom, until a replacement is ready (somebody we'd draft this yr or next)

he'll trade all our picks from the next 4 drafts for the #1 pick, and take that West Virginia guy

Or he could go bargain bin shopping in the 2nd round again and take E.J Manuel and think he is getting a steal.

Good point.

Not where's that bottle of Pepto...

Never forget the draft when we took Q. Carter. I was standing in front of a large TV screen in a dept. store with my wife. Made her pause while we watched the Cowboys selection. Needless to say she walked away while I was swearing at the TV with several bystanders behind me. The rest of the day didn't go so well..............the draft and homelife.

Yeah I remember it too, as a UGA guy alot of us knew he was bad news and was bringing alot of baggage with him.

It was an awful pick in an awful year of drafting for us.

For God's sake, get a decent head coach in here before you go trading Romo for picks that might turn into Shante Carver and Tony Dixon.

Christ, man. I can't even stomach the thought of beginning another QB search with Jerry at the controls. The next time he tries to outsmart the league by putting a project player back there is when I lose all remaining interest in the Cowboys.

It will be coming very soon. Well, soon as in after Romo had gone through his last 5 years and there is no damn way we have another QB ready. You think Clint Stoerner was bad?

Oh my gawd.

I'd like to kick the tires on Jordan Rodgers, Aaron's little bro.

Gritty little player but.........

Stands more of a chance of making a CFL roster or Arena League roster than sticking in the NFL.

He shares one thing with his older brother. A last name.

Didn't I say that?

I want to go back to the days of scouting baseball's waiver wire to find our next QB. Or maybe let Jerry draft a 5th round QB in the 2nd round and anoint him the starting QB.
