Tony Romo likes what he sees at receiver, Dez Bryant and all

OXNARD, Calif. -- So much of the focus on the Dallas Cowboys' offense has been the rapport between quarterback Tony Romo and receiver Dez Bryant.

They played just 123 snaps together last season because of injuries. Romo twice suffered a broken left collarbone and played in only two full games. Bryant suffered a broken right foot in the season opener and played only nine games.

But the Cowboys' offense has to be about more than just Romo-to-Bryant. It's about Romo to Terrance Williams, Romo to Cole Beasley and some Romo to Brice Butler as well.

"They're doing great. We're as deep at the wide receiver position as we've been in a long time. Terrance has had a great camp. So has Brice. Everyone is doing a great job," Romo said. "It's going to be a tough decision to see how many guys we keep and who is going to go where. That's a good problem."

When Romo took over as the starter in 2006, he had Terrell Owens and Terry Glenn at receiver. He mixed in Miles Austin, Patrick Crayton, Sam Hurd and Roy Williams in ensuing years.

Romo is now on to his fourth season with Bryant, Williams and Beasley as his core receivers.

In case you're wondering, the chemistry with Bryant is coming along. In team drills Wednesday they connected on a play-action pass for a long gain, as Bryant was able to accelerate through the final third of the defense.

"Dez has done a good job. He continues to get better every day. I think you're seeing the flashes of him. Each day it gets 20 minutes longer where he's able to continue to perform at that level," Romo said. "I think by the end of this week he's going to be Dez Bryant again, if he's not already there. It's all about getting yourself in great physical condition and pushing yourself every day. We know how talented he is."

This is still propaganda. Why is it that there has to be a report on whether Terrance Williams is having a good camp, OTAs or training in the offseason. It's obvious that there is still doubt about him. Why would there be any question about a starting WR? He can't catch and he plays scared. He can't hold down his role without Dez and he gets manhandled. Nobody is saying that Beasley is having a good camp or working harder that he ever has etc. The fact that Romo mentioned TWilly and Brice means that the critical eye is on both of them because they still are lacking.
