BY TIM POLZER

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said the league will consider adding a day to its annual rookie draft. In an interview with NFL Media’s Jeff Darlington, Goodell said if the league does add a fourth day, the draft would retain its current seven-round format.

One of the appeals of an additional night is for the league to have the opportunity to draw more big television ratings, which the draft often does.

Goodell said the league has not determined whether it will continue this year’s move to a May draft – caused by a scheduling conflict with Radio City’s Easter show – or go back to an April player selection at another venue.

Host cities other than New York City could also be considered. The league has expressed an interest in taking the draft on the road to various NFL cities.

I think they should add a 4th day but they should also add 3 rounds. There is an obvious demand with the way teams go after UDFA's.

That would make it more exciting. There is a huge demand for UDFA's and I can't believe I'm saying it, but we're one of the best teams in the league at finding the good ones.

Myth.

Our salary cap dead money over the years has been riddled with these amazing UDFA finds that never made the opening day roster.

Romo and Austin were exceptions. For every Ronald Leary we "find" there are 5 Jeff Heath's.

This is really true.

Our roster is so depleted of quality depth and we mismanage the draft so much that a number of udfa's make the team each year and get playing time that they otherwise wouldn't.

The draft used to be like 17 rounds...then 12 or so...so you believe that teams that picked then that had players in the middle (or what now would be "later") not turn out but had late round guys do ok was an example of "mismanaging the draft"??

There are definitely examples of this team absolutely blowing it (2009 jumps to mind immediately) but this is not a year in and year out problem. No teams drafts guys with all of their picks that 1) make the team every yr and 2) turn into quality NFL players every single time.

Our projected 2014 NFL Defense has one former 1st round pick (Claiborne). Our other high picks, Sean Lee, Tyrone Crawford, Bruce Carter, and Matt Johnson have missed significant time due to injuries, three of them were drafted with injury histories. This team does not draft well or let's say well enough, to compete for championships. Our GM changes his "plan" every other year which had led to our current mediocre at best results.
