Rob Ryan: I had a lot to do with losses vs. Giants

IRVING, Texas – If you want to boil down the Cowboys’ failure in 2011 to make the playoffs, you can look at the two defeats to the New York Giants.
In the first game, they failed to hold a 12-point lead in the final five minutes. In the second game, they fell behind 21-0 in the first half.
The Giants picked up 947 yards and scored 66 points against Rob Ryan’s defense last season.
“I mean hell, it knocked us out of the playoffs, so obviously I took offense to it,” Ryan said of the Jan. 2 loss. “I had a lot to do with it and I don’t want that to happen again. Did it ruin my offseason? No, they were the best team in the league. They won the Super Bowl. But do I plan on doing something about it? Yeah, we’re playing on getting a helluva lot better.”
As Ryan looked back on the two losses to the Giants he kept coming back to communication errors.
“I think it’s a lot better,” Ryan said of the communication. “We’re getting ready to find out. It’s a big stage. Everybody’s going to be watching that game and our communication will be put to the test and we have to answer that better than we did before.”
