How would you use Mike Jenkins now that he's returned?

What recommendations would you make for our defense based on what you've seen in pre-season and week 1?

Inside jokes suck when you're on the outside of them.

This is a serious question because Rob Ryan really did call me and asked my advice. But I haven't reaturned his call because I don't know what to say.

Jerry Jones suggested using the corners in a rotation.

That is a damned stupid idea, IMO.

Carr & Claiborn did well last week. Clearly our 2 best corners and should shadow the opponents top two receivers.

Scandrick did well in the slot, and Jenkins has no experience in the slot.

There's almost no role for Jenkins in a traditional defense.

And does anyone ever remember an instance of a team rotating corners?

Play Jenkins in the slot.

Now that he's got a decent secondary, he shouldn't be shy about blitzing the shit out of the rookie.

I'd have him playing strictly in dime packages right now, until he's back in game shape. Then see what he can give us in the slot. Wouldn't have him on the outsides because we need Claiborne to get reps and Carr is too good out there.

I would use him in the slot in place of Scandrick.

If he's playing really, really good then in place of Claiborne.

You use him to give our outside guys a breather.

Scandrick and the other guy played well inside. No reason to put Jenkins in there at all.

I rotate corners. It’s a long season. Keep their legs fresh. You probably don’t want to mess with the Scandrick. Also, use him in place of McCray.

Demote Scandrick and promote Mario Butler.

Makes no sense. What has Scandrick done to deserve a demotion? Ryan likes him and i think Orlando is good doing the corner blitz and isnt afraid to tackle. He is far from perfect but he does a decent job.

I would have Carr shadow the teams best WR and let Jenkins play the spot thats vacated by Carr having to move around

Hmmm... missed out on an INT, that luckily was not a completion. Basically, he still doesn't know how to play the ball.

Also... he got away with PI in the last game that should have been a TD.

And how often do we CB blitz?

The correct answer.

The occasional breather on the outside makes sense too.

I don't think there is anything wrong with evaluating in practice how Jenkins can do on the inside, and playing him if he gives you an advantage.
