Right now the FO thinks Collins at RT and Cooper at LG

This is per a season ticket holder at the zone who was in on the Stevie Jones season ticket holder conference call. I think Collins will do fine at RT and soon make Free a bad memory. OTOH if Belichick couldnt get anything out of Cooper, and even the semi pro Browns dumped him, I have serious doubts about how the LG situation works out.

Says a lot about what the FO thinks of Chaz Green and his affinity for the whirl pool IMO.

Yeah, that's surprising.

And hey, maybe Cooper can play with a great player on either side of him. But to me this is more Steve arrogance, thinking he and his people can turn a bust into a player.

Who do you think is a better talent evaluator, Belichick or Steve?

I'm not sure if he actually said THAT, or if whomever the listener was simply read into it what he wanted to hear. I think one of the exact quotes was "Cooper is going to start out at LG" and my guess is he meant that is the POSITION Cooper would be tried at initially, not necessarily that he was going to be A starter.

S Jones was just on a week or so before the draft and he and Garrett both plainly stated that Collins would start out at LG, but could move to RT if they decided they needed to do it. They both said Cooper was expected to compete for the backup swing G/C position.

Maybe something changed, but I doubt it.

I'll believe it when I see it. I have my doubts about what that listener thought he heard.

If he did state that EXACTLY as the CZ poster said, it'll be all over DMN, FWST, DC.com and ESPN tonight and tomorrow.

I would be surprised if Collins spends any significant time at RT (much less start). Not after what Jerry said on the radio towards the end of the season. He made it real clear that they have no interest in moving Collins to RT. I still think it's because they don't want to have to pay Collins as a tackle, they'd rather pay him as a guard.

Always leary of kids propping up their own posts. We had a bunch of o line guys that could play last year. Little thinner this year.

I doubt it has anything to do with this at all. Right now his play hasnt warranted an extension regardless of what position he is at. I think they just want him to get consistent.

We own his right for at least another season after this one (he'll be RFA) as well.

Lastly, they were paying Free really good money for RT, so the G/T pay thing makes no sense at all when you look at Collins' situation.

Yea you do have a point about him not warranting a contract yet based on his play. You also have to consider if he can even play tackle at the NFL level. I know he played tackle at LSU and I don't recall what the scouting report said about him but all I hear from the talking heads is that his lateral movement isn't good enough to play tackle in the NFL. I've heard several local guys say that was the word on him going into the draft that he's a guard not a tackle.
