No. About winning a championship, "that's all that matters", blah blah blah.

He's a prideful guy, and I bet the stigma that he chokes in big games is getting to him.

Yeah, that "if this is the worst thing that ever happens to me" comment after the Philly debacle in 2008 proves he has always been about winning a championship.

That was nearly 5 years ago.

He says it's 26-28 mil, with 8 mil prorated coming forward. No idea where he gets that number. The Franchise Tag for a QB was under 15 mil THIS year.

Aaron Rodgers is going to be the highest paid QB in the NFL, at 25 mil (reportedly).

Franchise Tag is the average of the top 5 contracts at the position.

You don't have to be a mensa member to know that that number can't be higher than the highest paid guy.

To me, it sounds like Archer is trying to say it would be 26-28 mil because, for some reason, 8 mil is advanced.... so 18-20 mil for the Franchise Tag + some 8 mil prorated coming forward? :confused

FYI...The rule regarding pay for Franchise players has changed, but you point is still valid. It is averaged over the previous five years.

In 2012, that circumstance has been flipped. Owners wanted a reconfigured franchise-tag formula in the new CBA because the 2011 tag figures were inflated by contracts like Miles Austin's and Albert Haynesworth's, which stashed astronomical numbers in the uncapped year of 2010. And they got that, with the new formula calculating over a five-year outlay. This deflated the 2012 franchise numbers to the point where the list of tagged guys reads more like a "Who?" than a "Who's Who" of players.

Good god.

Stop being so uninformed on everything you bitch about.

His dad was going through prostate cancer at the time and that was what was in that comment.

But I know the mythical 5-3 that doesn't exist and didn't happen right.

Shit you are right Theebs. It was just taken out of context. And that whole Cabo thing a couple days before the biggest game of his career, that was just a big misunderstanding too.

What does cabo have too do with it.

He got drilled in that pc after that game and after answering the same question over and over basically said look if this is the worst thing that happens to me I have a good life. I do t think its a big deal considering the guy's dad who he is really close to was going through treatment for prostate cancer.

And for the record, Newman spent that cabo weekend in Kansas and spears in louisianna....I remember joking on the radio later on that he was glad no one cared about trips to Kansas. Romo, witten and carpenter were there for Friday night and Saturday. They were all at the ranch the Sunday before the game and they had a practice on the Friday they flew down there. It had no effect on the game.

And also, romo didn't lose that game, in fact we had two 90 yard drives in the fist half and should have gone to the locker room with all the momentum and a 14-7 lead. The special teams made a mistake and then Jacques reeves got caught man to man and got beate for a huge play with a face masked tacked on.

We came out with the ball in the third qtr and went down and kicked a field goal to take the lead back 17-14 but the giants had life.

The giants on there Americas team segment mentioned that the romo drives basically took there enthusiasm and were toast only to have the special teams and defense blow it.

Had we come out of the locker room up 14-7 with the ball and the momentum we probably win the game. That's how fast those types of games change.

I never said Romo alone lost the NYG game that yr, and in numerous posts in the past I've said one of the reasons we lost that game was because of late season injuries to Owens and Romo.

The lead we did have had more to do with MBIII and the OL in the first half than anything else. Barber had over 100 yds rushing in the first half alone I believe (or very close to it)

That said, Romo didn't play well that day and it was definitely a poor decision to do what he did a few days before the game.

Yea I remember that, strahan and the DL were worn the f out. We shoulda been able to take control.

Don't know what dbairs talking about Toni made the right plays that day all over the place. We all know the 3-4 shoulda beens that we've been over over the years.

I am going to listen to the radio broadcast of that game tomorrow while doing some landscaping. Its about as painful as it gets as a game for a cowboys fan. Outside of the 94 NFC championship loss, it is right up there.

18/36, 201 yds, 1 td, 1 pick. His QB rating for the game was like 60

Like I have before, wasn't all his fault, I think the injury had something to do with it (and why we ran so much in the first half)

Barber had 129 yds on 27 carries and a TD in that game

Also a real kick in the nuts is that the play crayton didn't make at the end of the game (3rd down incompletion) we actually hit on the in ny in a similar spot on the field, romo to Owens Td, Owens saw the safety come up and went to the corner of the endzone. Crayton hesitated.

-- Staubach said former Cowboys quarterback Troy Aikman was right to criticize Romo for his vacation to Cabo during the team's January 2008 playoff bye week. Aikman said earlier this month that Romo "hasn't fully grasped what being the Cowboys quarterback is all about."

"Troy was right about that," Staubach said. "I would have said the same thing.

"To take three days off and forget about the season ... it's a momentum thing and you don't do that. ... All of that publicity and all of that Cabo stuff, going into the next week it's a distraction. But that's kind of a maturing process to go through all that."

It also motivated the hell out of the Giants because the tabloid media played it up like crazy. "See how worried he is about playing New York? So worried that he's partying it up with some Hollywood airhead in Mexico!" That sort of shit. Tony's biggest error was that he was indiscreet. If you go to Cabo before a big game, make sure no one finds out and exploits it.

Oh, they wanted to win regardless, but Tony gave them extra motivation.

That was where it did hurt. The giants under coughlin live for that stuff. It started I the post and then it went crazy on espn.

And they were indiscreet, but Jessica Simpsons gay youth pastor dad gave the pictures up for publicity for Jessica Simpson or else no one would have known.

I imagine almost all of the team split on Friday night like witten, carpenter and romo did and then came back Sunday.

But it worked big time for coughin, throw in the fake NFC championship tickets in the lockers before the game story that coughlin made up before the game and they were all set.

But even still, we were dominating with a 14-7 lead and should have gone to the half with that lead.

Fantasy football stat nerds are ruining the understanding of the game.

Yep. To me it's like he made the same exact plays ben and Eli have made. The ball was put in the same place. The results however radically different. Oh well. We don't win.

Not sure if you guys remember either but the ny post brought a Jessica Simpson look alike and stuck her in the stadium.

They found out the fans here didn't want her at games after she was shown continuously during the eagles game and romo hurt his thumb that game.

What an awesome rivavlry that was for a few years, I wish we could have grabbed a ring during that time.
