And re: three strike laws - Im not sure how the law is written. I think three strikes in felony offenses. A three time shoplifter, while a nuisance, shouldn't spend the rest of their time in prison.

Now, let's pick a topic per day and discuss it. I go first. Legalize all drugs. This is easy. Stop imprisoning non-violent offenders, number one. It has become a business where the prisons are making money at our expense. And two, you want to stop the drug cartels and their violence. Make what they're pushing legal... less people die and the cartels have nothing to be violent about. The war on drugs has been a failure.

Most overdose deaths are attributed to the abuse of "legal" prescription drugs than all other drugs combined. Legalizing drugs isn't the answer.

I'm more concerned with my right to do whatever I want with my body, even if I'll never do it, than I am with the government implementing safety rules to protect me. I'll cite the cliche' Ben Franklin quote, "Those who will sacrifice liberty for safety deserve neither". I know he wasn't talking about drug legalization, but I think it still sort of makes sense.
