I guess he's finding out what God does in fact hate.

Fred Phelps, founder of the infamous Westboro Church and a Democrat who occasionally ran for office in Kansas, died Thursday at the age of 84. Phelps earned infamy protesting against gays and Jews, and at military funerals. The Democrat's followers would carry signs that claimed God hated his targets, and that the soldiers deserved to die.

The Anti-Defamation League called the church "a small, virulently homophobic, anti-Semitic hate group" and the Southern Poverty Law Center called it "arguably the most obnoxious and rabid hate group in America." ...
President George W. Bush signed a law in May 2006 that established a 150-foot zone prohibiting picketing at military funerals within an hour of the service. Obama signed a similar law in August 2012 that increased the buffer to 300 feet and doubled the prohibition to within two hours of the service.
Phelps was himself an occasional candidate. In the Kansas Democratic U.S. Senate primary in 1992, Phelps got 31% of the vote against Gloria O'Dell, who got 69%. She eventually lost to Republican Sen. Bob Dole.

I was reminded here that our unbiased, objective, not-at-all-liberal media was never very interested in revealing the fact that Phelps was a Democrat. :)lol)

I think he was Republican.

Edit: Nevermind, he was a Democrat. He was a very confused old man.

I had more than one run-in with his wackadoodle clan when I lived in Topeka in the 90's. He had his little grandkids standing in freezing weather for hours at a time holding their hate signs. A real piece of shit.

Slayer to the rescue

Carrying signs saying “God Hates Self-Righteous Fanatics” and “At Least Satan Has Good Taste In Music”, members of the heavy metal rock band Slayer today camped outside the Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka, Kansas waiting to protest the funeral of WBC leader Fred Phelps.
