Orlando Scandrick wore a hard-shell splint under his gloves to protect his surgically repaired left index finger and also taped the index finger to his middle finger for added support.

He suffered the injury early in the organized team activities and missed most of the off-season work. He did not miss a snap Saturday.

"I've still got some pain but I'm working through it," Scandrick said. "Just have to be tough. I just need time. I need the practice. I could feel my timing was off. I felt a little rusty out there."

It had nothing to do with conditioning, Scandrick said, but more to do with the timing of playing football again. He said the splint and tape job do not prevent him from catching the football.

"I've just got to focus more in general on my technique and what I'm doing," Scandrick said. "This should help because I can't make up for mistakes."
