Somebody check in with Glorydays, he might off himself at any time now:

'Boys hope Johnny Manziel falls to them, don't plan to draft him

It's unlikely that Texas A&M's Johnny Manziel will fall out of the top 10 -- with interested teams like the Buccaneers, who draft seventh, and the Vikings (No. 8) there to catch him if he drops at all, and other teams potentially interested in trading up for him if he manages to get beyond those clubs.

What if he does start to slide, though? What if he's available when a team he has been linked to in rumors for weeks -- the Cowboys -- are on the clock with the 16th overall pick?

That's apparently a scenario Jerry Jones & Co. are rooting for, but they don't intend to draft Manziel, according to NFL Media insider Ian Rapoport.

"(The Cowboys) would love to be on the clock with Johnny Manziel sitting there, but not to take him. Not to take him," Rapoport said Sunday on NFL Network's "NFL Total Access". "Just so they would have some ammunition for a potential trade for some team wanting to come up and grab Johnny Manziel."

Consider your bubble burst, all those clinging to hopes of seeing Johnny Football stay in his home state to play in Big D. And Jones can probably forget about some team paying a steep price to trade into the Cowboys' spot to land Manziel, now that Rapoport has reported Dallas doesn't plan to draft him.

The Manziel-to-Cowboys rumors have persisted, even though NFL Media senior analyst Gil Brandt knocked down the idea as soon as it started to gather steam last month, in part because Dallas hasn't publicly shut the door on drafting Manziel.

Brandt said he didn't think Manziel would be available to the Cowboys at No. 16, and he didn't see Jones, who's always in win-now mode, making the move for Manziel -- even if he did happen to slide to them.

The same holds true now.

It just seems a whole lot less likely that any team will buy into the possibility that it'll miss out on Manziel if it doesn't trade up to get the Cowboys' pick.

Preface: I don't want us to draft Manziel.

That said, if he's there at 16, there's no way the old make-a-splash Jerry could pass that buzz up. If he does, then we MIGHT be seeing a changing tide with this front office.

There's no way in hell they draft this guy "just to make a splash". Even Jerry isnt that big of a fucking idiot.

If they draft him its because they know Romo is about done. If Romo is gonna be the guy, then they are gonna surround him with players to give him a chance to win now. Manziel does nothing to help Romo (or the Cowboys) now.

Moss won the same amount of super bowls as Jerry from his rookie year to career end.

If we had put him with Aikman, Smith, and Irvin it may have been different.

It certainly would have been more entertaining than watching a perennial 10 sack a year DE who complained about everything and helped QBs up after he sacked them.

I doubt it. Aikman was still good in 98 and 99, but he was clearly done in 2000 and retired after that season.

Moss would have gone straight to jail playing in Dallas

He's have also killed the team and coaching staff, he was a cancer.

The team was already dead. If Moss torched defenses with Randall Cunningham throwing jump balls to him imagine what Aikman could have done. They made it all the way to the NFC Championship game and barely lost. We could have gone to the Super Bowl. It would have been worth it.

Oh because Rapoport said unconfirmed thing X teams are going to revise their entire draft strategy. Got it.

There is not a player in the draft that will help the Cowboys get to a Super Bowl now. That has been Jerry's problem. He thinks that they can win now when he should be looking at the future.

If you look at Moss's history, he wouldn't have stayed in Dallas for very long.

The Manziel/Bryant combination would be dynamic. Romo doesn’t know how to throw to Dez (because he is covered). Johnny knows how to throw the ball up and let his guys make plays. The closer we get to the draft the more i am i don’t see Jerry pulling the trigger. He still thinks the team is a contender this year. I see JFF going to the Rams @13, it would actually be a good spot for him. They are an up and coming team with all those draft picks from the Skins.
