Not that they mean anything, but here's what I think:
1) On the top pick, while the consensus is its Ramsey or Elliott I still don't totally rule out Bosa. He just makes too much sense for us and is clearly the best DL in the draft IMO. Lives in the opponents backfield and plays with great intensity. If he's a stoner head I don't want him at all, but if that stuff isn't a concern I just cant see how we can pass on him with the situation we have on our defense, and especially the DL. I think Bosa (and a couple other guys) are classic cases of people ignoring what they see in the games themselves in lieu of great Underwear Olympics numbers. He's only 20, he's going to add weight and get a lot stronger.
2) In regards to Elliott or Ramsey, I'm on record (and have been since the season ended) that I love Elliott for us and think he's by far the safest bet to be a major impact player. No matter what they do at 4, they just cant miss on the pick and unless he gets hurt I think he's as close to a sure thing as there is (especially for our situation) With Ramsey, I get why people like him. He is an amazing athlete and has played very well at FSU. He's played a number of positions for them so you can clearly move him around the defense to take advantage of that. But I don't think he's a big time ball hawk and even if he were, I'd still favor Bosa and Elliott over him because my opinion is people that sack & hit the QB, blow up opponents run plays in key situations and impact scoring points for your offense are more important than DB's are now. Elliott does that on offense. He's tremendous from a running skill standpoint. He doesn't fumble. He blocks his ass off and has great hands. He excels in short yardage and GL (two major weaknesses for us last yr) He has more than enough speed to make game breaking plays and he is regarded as incredibly smart for the position with great work ethic.
3) I'll be surprised if anyone other than the above 3 are the pick at 4. I'll also be a little surprised if they trade down any from 4. I'm not opposed to the idea, but trading down greatly decreases the odds of getting an impact player.
4) In regards to QB, with my ideal situation of Wentz or Goff almost assuredly gone, I'd love to see us land Lynch but know that's unlikely as well. If he slipped into the 20's, I'd definitely be happy to see us go up and get him from 34. I'm not opposed at all to using next years 1st as part of a deal to go get him either. (In fact I'd rather do that than sacrifice all our middle round picks in addition to 34) Cook or Hackenberg I'd prefer we don't trade up for, although I can understand the logic and if they really believe one of them can be a solid starter in time, having the 5th yr option IS a big deal. If they don't get any of these guys, my #1 fallback from there would be Brandon Allen from Arkansas, maybe with our pick at the top of the 4th. I don't want anything to do with Prescott, in any round.
5) If QB isn't the target in trade up, we've heard rumors that WR or DL could very well be in the mix. Love Josh Doctson for us and Treadwell I never gave much thought to because I didn't want him at 4 and assumed all along he'd go somewhere in top-15, but if he makes into 20's and we move for him, he'd be a great add as well. While we are defensive talent deficient I must admit the idea of adding Elliott and Treadwell or Doctson to our offense would be pretty exciting. If Romo and Dez are 100%, we'd light up the league with the skill guys and our OL.
6) If the target is DL via trade up, Matt Mosley put it out there yesterday that the guy they were in love with was Sheldon Rankins. He's another guy I didn't give much thought to because I always expected him to go between 10-20, but adding him to our DL would definitely have some significant impact. I wonder if Tyrone Crawford moves to LDE if Rankins is added. Rankins could also be valuable this yr even if he were just a rotational DT and nickel/dime pass rusher. Lawson and Dodd make sense to me too if we're thinking of moving up from 34 for a DL. The Cowboys don't seem interested, by I like Florida's Jonathan Bullard a lot too. Love Sheldon Day in 3/4 as well. Bronson Kaufusi, Javon Hargave and Ronald Blair are other mid rd guys I like for us.
7) In regards to trading up in general, I know many believe trading down and getting more picks is the only thing to consider, but we didn't do much in free agency. My preference if they are going to move up is for a QB they think can be the guy eventually, but the potential of getting two high end players that can contribute immediately has to be viewed as a positive too. (whether the combination is DL/DB, DB/DL, DL/RB, RB/DL or even DL/DL)
8) I wonder if a WR (like Treadwell or Doctson) got picked early, if they might consider trying to trade Terrance Williams. He only has one yr left on his rookie deal so cap concerns wont impede a trade on either side. I also wonder if Ronald Leary might get shopped and moved, whether its part of a deal to move up quite a bit or just straight up for a mid round pick. While I like Leary as a player, he only backs up at G here and we signed Looney as C/G backup, plus I think there's a good chance we draft someone middle to late that can play interior OL too. Getting something for Leary now would be a plus.
9) LB doesn't seem to be getting much talk (especially with Jack's injury thing now) but I wonder about a guy like Josh Perry for us. Could play either OLB spot (and SOLB is not solid for us right now) but he's also big enough and physical enough to play MLB in our scheme I think. In that position he's still really athletic for somebody that size, and supposedly Marinelli loves taller MLB's. I also think without the awful knee injury, Jaylon Smith would have been a strong consideration for us at 4. I wouldn't want us to spend any of our top-4 picks on him, but after that I'd definitely be open to using a pick (especially if he made it to the 6th) on him and just seeing what happens.
10) Other DB's I like are Houston's William Jackson (if he made it to 34, which I doubt), Miami's Artie Burns, Deiondre Hall (late) safeties Karl Joseph and Keanu Neal and Jeremy Cash. I would not be in favor of trading up for any DB's, regardless of what round.
11) Big on Ezekial Elliott for us, but I think Derrick Henry would play extremely well for us too. Kenyan Drake as a replacement for Dunbar would make me happy and he's a bonafide KR threat too in addition to what he could be as a 3rd down receiving back. Prosise from Notre Dame is interesting to me as well.
