I think he was in real trouble of not making the roster anyway.

Not necessarily a dig at him, more of props to Albright and Lemon who have done more to earn a roster spot.

Hadn't heard his name mentioned at all during training camp. That said, someone in the media suggested he was a guy who would make his mark in the actual games when you could hit people.

But yeah, Orie Lemon has had a strong camp and seems like a possible lock. And Alex Albright is a Rob Ryan favorite so they're trying to keep him around by having him line up in the middle as well.

So going on IR might've been McSurdy's best chance to stick around and collect a check.

He looked better the other night than I expected him to, so he might have been playing for a spot on another team. Tough break for him for sure.
