Defensive end Marcus Spears wondered if he would make it to camp with the Cowboys. The club did explore the possibility of moving him before the draft.

Now, executive vice president Stephen Jones says that Spears is a valuable part of the team and they're not looking to trade him.

"Well, it feels great,'' Spears said. "That's the response you want from ownership. That's what you want those guys to say. You want them to have a good feeling about you. I saw what Steve said and I appreciate it.

"Everything happens in due time. That's why you guys (media) never saw me get too riled up or too down about the situation. You've got to go with the flow and wait for things to happen.''

Spears said he stopped worrying about his fate long ago.

"It wasn't up to me to dictate where I would be or wouldn't be,'' Spears said. "I just had to find out where I would be and get ready to play ball.''

While I don't think he's irreplaceable . . . I'm glad he's still a part of the team.
