Besides, we got Golden Cock. We're good.

Nick Hayden's not on the team bitch.

Now you might be talking about some weird penis painting you and one of your "friends" are into, if so that's TMI

So as much as this issue is a different position from the under stocking and lack of foresight at the RB and QB positions last season. Let's see what Jerry and Stephen learned. I think many of us were wondering when the big effective effective NT was going to happen in the draft with such deep talent throughout. And then they go and pick a guy who is fast and kind of big and tends to take plays off. Now if they learned anything from last year, they need to go get a NT now. Casey Walker is big enough and Rodney Coe is the right kind of athlete (mean and gritty) but they still need someone who will demand double teams. That's the bottom line. Let's see what they do.

Rookies don't have any "leverage" any longer. All their deals are slotted.

True but the amount of guaranteed money is not set. They can always hold out for more guaranteed money.

Had both Bama DT's staring them in the face in the second. Could have had Billings in the 4th. Could have even gone with Bullard (who can play both DE and DT) in the 3rd. But nope, Collins is their guy.

Maliek Collins' broken foot

Brandon George: "The big thing with the defensive line is obviously everyone wonders about the depth and if they did enough this offseason to address a lack of a pass rush. So already the Cowboys are dealing with a major injury for them. Their third-round pick out of Nebraska Maliek Collins, the defensive tackle, actually fractured his foot in organized team activities last week. He had surgery late last week to repair his right foot. Collins is going to be out 10-12 weeks recovering from this surgery. That means he'll probably most likely miss all of training camp. If not, he'll be back late in training camp or he may be back early in the 2016 season. So he may miss maybe the first week or the first two weeks. But the Cowboys believe he'll be able to play most of the season and be able to get back fully healthy. The question is of him missing this time, how much will that hurt him? Because obviously he's a rookie, he's already behind. The injury is similar to what Dez Bryant suffered last year. It's a fractured fifth metatarsal in his right foot. During the surgery late last week, they actually inserted a screw to help with the joint there and also to secure the joint. And they also did a bone graft. And they did both those things with Dez Bryant. It took Dez Bryant a little while to recover from this. I called up with Terrell McClain, who is actually going to take up some of the spot that Maliek Collins was holding there in the middle of the defensive line, and Terrell McClain said that Maliek Collins basically injured himself by a simple cut. He was just making a cut on the practice field and that's how he got hurt."

Jon Machota: "I think the big thing about Collins is that he brings the versatility that Rob Marinelli likes, particularly on the inside. There'd been some that if he would have progressed the way they wanted me to throughout training camp this is a guy that could possibly push Tyrone Crawford outside to play some left end, especially because early in the season you're going to be without Randy Gregory, you're going to be without DeMarcus Lawrence. So to get these other guys who can pass rush on the field, that's where they were hoping that a Collins could kind of make his mark. So if this was a veteran that suffered this injury, you'd say, 'They've got a lot of experience. Maybe this isn't a bad thing. You're just going to get some extra rest.' But for a young kid like this, that's really going to set him back. Just going back to when Lawrence was hurt at the beginning of his rookie season, that was just one of those things where it set him back awhile. You didn't see the real DeMarcus Lawrence for a while. You didn't really see him come into his own really until the playoffs. So that's one of those things where you're like, 'Is this gonna hold him back? And how quickly when he does come back is he gonna feel comfortable on that foot and how soon will he be able to get back and be in that rotation?'"

Ryan Russell's rise

Machota: "What's been interesting so far, at least for me, is on the first-team defensive line at left end has been Ryan Russell, a guy that they
drafted last year in the fifth round and a guy that didn't really play much last year. This is possibly a chance where he has a breakout season."

George: "He only appeared in one game (last year) and that was in Week 3. He had one tackle. He had an injured abdomen there toward the middle of the season. It eventually landed him on the injured reserve list. It really limited his time. He didn't get to do much. So you now you got Ryan Russell, he's getting some first-team reps there at left defensive end. It's going to be interesting to see in year two if he can make the transition because a lot of these defensive ends come into the league and they really struggle in that first season."

Isn't he just the next guy up because everyone else is hurt? How does that mean he's going to break out?

DMN sounds more like Spagnola all the time.

Maybe, but they could have inserted that DE they signed from the Raiders at RDE and played Tapper at LDE perhaps. Instead they immediately put Tapper at RDE even though it appeared most of time at OU he played on the LE side (even though he wasn't truly a 4-3 LDE in their set)

I suspect they weren't putting any rookies other than Zeke with the #1s. Not in the very first OTAs.

Injuries happen and they do affect the win/loss record. Losing Romo wasn't an "excuse" ...

Going 1-11 without Romo against some pretty shitty teams is inexcusable.

Every team suffers injuries. For years moron sunshine pumper fans have been proclaiming we need to ignore the .500 seasons because the idiot Jason has been building a team to be competitive. 5 years into his tenure and we lose one guy and the wheels fall off.

Fucking joke.

Off a playoff team we lose Pro Bowler QB, Pro Bowler RB. Pro Bowler WR- and yet you can't figure out where things went wrong- LOL

The fucking Texans won with a QB we couldn't, and they don't have half the talent this offense has. So, yeah, I know where things went wrong. It was when Jimmy Johnson left.

Teams lose QBs every year... It's not often that they tank as spectacularly as the Cowboys did last year without Romo. Hell, even Jon friggin Kitna won more games than he lost the last time Romo went down for most of the season.

Losing Romo has absolutely been an excuse for our record last year. Jerry's making comments that we're closer to 12-4 than 4-12. Why do you think that is? Because we have our QB back and Dez should be healthy. Those are excuses for the win loss record. You may not like the word "excuse," but when the team essentially stands pat at the QB and WR positions and you predict 13-3 after last year's debacle, from where I sit, the only way you can even say that with a straight face is because you think this team's ills will all be fixed with Romo back and a healthy Dez.

No excuse making here.

And make no mistake... we all know where things went wrong. You do too... you just can't be honest about the obvious issues we're about to face this year.
