Kiwi kicks off Cowboys week with shot at Jerry
BY Ralph Vacchiano

When Mathias Kiwanuka heard that Jerry Jones vowed his Dallas Cowboys would “beat the Giants’ asses” at some point this season, he wasn’t angry at the mouthy owner. In fact, he completely understood why he’d make that guarantee.

"He should,” Kiwanuka said in an interview on WFAN on Thursday morning. “I mean, the Giants have been whupping his ass for a long time.”

And there it is, the official start of Cowboys week and the first week of the regular season. In just six days the defending Super Bowl champions kick off their title defense against the team they most love to hate, and Jones will surely be watching from a Meadowlands skybox.

Jones’ vow actually didn’t apply to this game. When he addressed a crowd of supporters at the start of Cowboys’ training camp in Oxnard, Calif. on July 30 he told them “Y'all should come to Cowboys Stadium and watch us beat the Giants' asses.”

The Giants don’t go to Cowboys Stadium – where they are 3-0 all time – until Oct. 28.

Surely, though, Jones must believe his Cowboys will do some butt-kicking on Wednesday night, even if he hasn’t come out and said it - - at least not yet. Again, Kiwanuka would find that understandable because Jones – and everyone else in the league – wants what the Giants have.

“It’s got to be tough on the outside looking in on all of these championships lately,” Kiwanuka said. "That's the feeling I feel like everybody in the league has, and what they should have, because when you're on top and everybody should be wanting to knock you off.”

The hard part is that the Giants actually back up their talk.

That is just the way you remember.

Shockey guaranteed victory against us twice and lost both games. 03 and 06
brandon jacobs guaranteed they would whip our ass twice and lost both times. 07 first two games.

the players and media laughed at us in 10 and basically said we had no chance....

they thrive on being an underdog with something to prove and the ny media plays right into it.....they love to set them up as the poor underdogs who are just minding there business.

By the way i saw the emperor say the other day the cowboys have never lost to the giants in a season opener....I didnt check the facts but I remember off the top of my head I think we beat them in 86, 95 and 07..........maybe I will look it up if I get time.

1. He's right.
2. He's only said that because Jerry threw the first punch.

best rivalry in the league.

I hope our players are smart enough to keep quiet this week and let garrett do all the talking because the ny media is going to bring the bait big time.....

The giants cant play the underdog card, the we are not respected card and the we will show them card because no one is talking.

Jerry Jones Responds To Mathias Kiwanuka’s Whupping Your Ass Comments
Submitted by Syndicated sources on August 31, 2012 - 2:33pm

The back and forth between the NY Giants and Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has been relentless.

Yesterday Giants linebacker Mathias Kiwanuka fired another shot when stated “the Giants have been whupping the Cowboys ass for a long time now.”

NFL.com reported that today Jerry Jones responded to Kiwanuka, and sounded a little humbled.

“I agree with him, and the only thing I’m saying is that I’ll never get used to it,” Jones told USA Today. “It is tough (being) on the outside looking in,” Jones said of the Giants‘ titles. “That’s the way I felt when I got in the NFL as an owner. I didn’t want to be on the outside, looking in.

“The Giants are an inspiration … it is opening the NFL season in front of such a high-profile forum …the Wednesday night game â?¦ all of that is there. We have that kind of respect for them.”

I think Jones is trying to put the brakes on the runaway train that has been his mouth. The season opener is less than a week away and we all get the point.

The Giants are the team to beat.

Jones want to beat their ass.

Let the games begin
