USC always ran 4-3 defenses, and so has Seattle since he started coaching there

Btw

That is not really what Seattle runs.

They run a hybrid with different fronts some one and some two gap. He couldn't run this defense at USC because the players couldn't handle it. In sf he ran this, this was the stuff I was referring to. He had been trying to get back to what he ran in sf which was a hybrid, attacking both gaps and playing that four down line elephant look.

This past offseason after the draft he said they finally had the personnel to run the hybrid defense like he did in sf.

That's what they run, it is not the Tampa 2 like Tampa, chi. Minnesota have run.

Our personnel fits this better and that is probably why kiffin said go watch Seattle. We will one gap in and under look, almost like wades 34.

theebs, I've sat through like 4 seminars where Carroll talked about his defense and how he uses the Tampa 2 scheme. Like all defenses (or offenses), coaches put their own spin on it. They would drop the DE's into Zone coverage so they bascially look like stand up 3-4 OLB's. He had 4 great LB's one year at USC so he slid a DE to DT and put Clay Matthews at a DE slash OLB position he called the "elephant".

The Seahawks Defense is very close to Kiffin's Tampa Bay defense a few years back. Same concepts, player sizes and skill sets. Monte Kiffin, senile bastard that he is, is telling you himself..look at Seattle's defense last year to get a start on understanding the scheme he plans on using her ein Dallas this year.

U guys just like to Argue. What is the problem here with what I am saying.

I simply said Carroll doesn't run a Tampa 2. And that he said this past offseason that he wanted to run the hybrid like in sf.

That is exactly what they do. He said right out he couldn't run this at USC because the players couldn't handle it.

What's the problem with what I am saying I don't get the questioning.

Here is one of the articles, I am too lazy to look for the rest but carol talked about it repeatedly.

He wants to run a hybrid like in sf, not a dedicated Tampa 2. Dbair.

good article.

the games I watched and paid attention, they ran a pretty standard 4-3. the fact that Clemons stood up doesn't change much IMO. Peppers stands up from time to time in the Bears 4-3 scheme. The two DT's were usually over the guard and their DE's were big.

There is a better one explaining in detail how he ran the hybrid in sf. It explains the team playing a 34 but lining up in a 4 down elephant look.

He also employs the bear look which must be similar to wades 34 one gap scheme.

Well he pretty much did at USC, and he pretty much did the last few years at Seattle.
