Letting spencer go and replacing him with a rookie w do this team no good. We need to ADD pressure players...not subtract/replace

Somebody figure out a way for this to work if we draft an OLB and keep spencer. How do we get everyone on the field together?

This plan is much easier if we can add a pass rushing 5tech like JJ Watt, but those aren't very easy to find.

Line Spencer up as a nickle rusher on the inside or a straight up DE on a four man line with Ware and the other rusher coming off the edges.

Can't afford to lose him

He's been gone for two games and defense has looked pretty much the exact same in both games.

The bigger loss for this team has been Church.

The pass rush wasn't there before his injury and the run defense has been just about the same except they have faced better RBs in Forte and Rice.

You don't pay for a guy that doesn't make a difference when playing and isn't noticeably absent when not playing.

Of course, now that I say this Spencer will have the best game of his career now that's had an entire month of ass-thumbing time.

I'm all about replacing Spencer this offseason. If the underclassmen come out, should be a good draft for pass rushers. Spencer ain't worth another franchise tag. He seems like an average player that Dallas would lock up into an above average deal though.

Spencer is the most underrated player on our defense.

I'm all for keeping him.

Not if he wants Ware money, mind you.

Ain't no damn way this defense has been the same without spencer. No fuckin way.

Agreed. We're much weaker against the run and we get no pressure opposite of Ware.

Spencer is a whipping boy because he doesn't get 10 sacks a year. Hell , I've been guilty of criticizing him as well. But I now see the value he has to this team.

Perhaps any perceived weakness against the run is due to Dallas having faced better RBs. Forte (even hurt) and Rice are very good backs. Rice is one of the top backs in the league.

The only back Dallas faced that is close to Rice prior to Spencer's injury was Lynch and he pretty much ate the defense alive.

Spencer is the whipping boy because his paycheck is flat out bullshit.

If he were a 3-4M per year cap hit, he'd be just fine. At 9M, it's fucking criminal that he only shows up in all the areas where the stats, conveniently, don't.

We need to treat this 3-4 defense like an actual defense for the 1st time in our lives. Collect pass-rushers like they're going out of style.

However, we choose to silently and slowly build up non-existent depth there.

You know I hear the same things about Spencer that I heard about Spears a few years ago. Solid run defender, defense isn't the same without him, etc.

I don't see it. Now, granted the options behind Spencer now are terrible so there is a drop off when he is out, but he isn't a difference maker in my opinion. It is a position that can be improved.

Teams game plan around Ware. They are always cognizant of him and he still gets his sacks. Spencer should benefit from that and get more than 6 sacks a year.

Like someone else said, I'm OK with a small cap hit but not this $9 million per year nonsense or any sort of huge signing bonus.
