There are a few players that keep ending up on Cowboy mock drafts as if Dallas is just gullible enough to draft them when no one else wants them or knows better.

These players are dead ends. They have gone as far as they can and now drafting them would be a waste. UFDA? Sure who cares, but the tendency to use very valuable draft slots on German LBs, Canadian DTs, slow lanky WRs, WRs who can't catch above their chins, lead RBs who run the 40 in 4.6 but are not 250 lbs, safeties who are Matt and Johnson, safeties who are feral and completely unthinking like Wilcox, and Geoff Swaims has got to stop.

In no particular order:

Derrick Henry - anytime your running back needs a running start in or to get to a good starting speed, there is a problem.
Kevin Hogan - Has anyone seen this guy throw the ball? It's embarrassing.
Dak Prescott - has power and running but is more Tebow than Jameis.
LaQuon Treadwell - Didn't we do this before with Mike Williams from USC?
Paxton Lynch - If Jeff Goldblum and Marilyn Manson had a baby who wanted to play QB.
Xavien Howard- nope
Noah Spence (just don't see it- doesn't seem big or strong enough for DE)
Will Fuller (great speed but even in Game Changers looked afraid of the ball.)

Who else?

Jalen Ramsey - Because a corner can't have a noticeable impact without a pass rush and quality safety play. We have neither. Fix those first then spend less than premium picks on corners.

Joey Bosa - because he's white but not Jared Allen or Watt white. Just regular 8 sacks a year white.

Doesn't matter what his race is... 8 sacks a season is not worth the #4 overall pick. Period.

But it's a shitty draft and you have to draft someone (think Russell Maryland in 1991). Jaylon Smith's knee and Jack's suspect knee really took the shine off the top 10.

Maryland was a DT and the Cowboys traded up to draft him #1 overall. He was a stud DT.

Let's not get carried away. He was the best of a lackluster bunch that year. One Pro Bowl and no All-Pro(s) hardly equates to stud tackle. High motor and good against the run is his legacy.

He was excellent against the run not just good. He was the best player on that DL until they traded for Haley, and until Lett developed.

I think the intent originally when they traded up was to draft Rocket Ismail. IIRC they couldn't get him to agree to a deal and he instead signed a huge deal to go the CFL.

stud DT = Randy White, who never came off the field and was not part of a rotation with Hennings, Lett, Jimmie Jones, Casillas, etc.

Yeah, Maryland definitely wasn't a "stud." Jimmy even knew he wasn't, but decided he'd be steady and reliable enough, and there weren't good trade down options.

Maryland's last game at Miami he might have had the best single game a DL has ever had in a bowl game. IIRC he had like 5 or 6 sacks vs Texas and the Canes killed them that day.
