Pretty damn simple.
When you try to score on a "project" or small school players, you usually fuck yourself.
Stanglass, AOA, Brewster, Jason Williams......
That's two 3rd rounders and a two 4th rounders.
I think Dallas has been playing the early rounds pretty well over the past few years in terms of taking guys who most can identify as reasonable picks but when it comes to the middle and later rounds they try to outsmart the rest of the league and take some guy who nobody has ever heard of.
I think this is Jerry's fault.
He's a creature of habit.
I think he keeps signing knuckleheads, trying to give them one more shot, because of how well Charles Haley worked out when everyone said he was a nutcase.
Because of our good fortune with Haley, I think that is why we've given such people like Dimitrius Underwood, Alonzo Spellman, PacMan Jones, Tank Williams, etc another shot.
Likewise, how it relates in the draft, I think Jerry remembers how much success we had with Erik Williams from Central State, Leon Lett from Emporia State, and Larry Allen from Sonoma State, that he's always trying to find that next small school gem.
