Jerry Jones says he and a noted OL expert liked what they saw in second half against Raiders

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said he got a chance to watch the second half with an expert on offensive lines.
And that they both liked what they saw from the Cowboys in the preseason game Monday night against Oakland.
“I had a chance to sit there with John Madden and watch the offensive linemen in the second half,” Jones said. “That’s his specialty, and what I like to look at. We saw some of our guys doing some good things.”
Who?

“Parnell did good, of course. Smith is good, but he didn’t play in the second half. But Parnell did good. Leary did some good things in there. But Parnell particularly impressed me.”
Parnell is Jermy Parnell, the Cowboys’ primary backup offensive tackle. He and Ronald Leary, an undrafted rookie who Jones was especially pleased to sign after the draft, played on the third-quarter drive led by Kyle Orton that produced the game’s only points, a 33-yard field goal by Dan Bailey.

“Ideally, you’d like to have gone down and gotten one in the end zone,” Jones said. “You’d like to get a touchdown, get a score. But I really liked what I saw individually with some of the offensive linemen.”

Leary wasnt horrendous.

He needs work, but he also had several pretty good blocks and unlike Dockery and even Bernadeau, he did get a push on his guys more than a few times.

Parnell on the other hand did look pretty good. He is definitely an interesting prospect.

Agree on Parnell. I thought he looked ok last preseason too.

Dallas needs to hire the personnel guy evaluating OL for NO

Not true. We're one or two plays away from being the World Champion Giants or something.

I dont know about that, but I do know we were one play away from making sure the defending champions never got to be the defending champions

Yeah, because every 3rd rd pick OL comes in and looks like Larry Allen in his prime from day one.

Shame on them.

Yeah, hyping an UDFA to step in and start from day one is much smarter.

P.S. He is not a 3rd rounder. He was passed on 253 times including 7 times by us. 6 times if you want to go with the whole "3rd round grade" delusion.

Maybe Jerry should stop grading players and stick to selling tickets.

John was probably asleep by halftime.

Jerry mistook John nodding off as John agreeing.

Obviously we wont ever know for sure now where he would have went, but I think its clear the only reason he went undrafted is because of the knee condition. Not because he wasnt any good.

Probably to some extent.

No doubt it hurt him but I doubt the knee was the only reason.

Most players taken in the later round are viewed as developmental players anyway. If a team really thought they'd get a guy who would likely start for them but only for a few years, I bet a number of teams would jump on it. You'd be stupid not to.

Thats you oipnion

mine is that he SUX BALLS

the only UDFA that we have picked in the past talkin Bill P era and on that is playin worth a shit is Harvey Dahl

and that may as well go for the draft picks also

except Free an Tron good thing we had ole man Houck last year

so let me figure that out

from 03 we have drafted Al Johnson - Steven Peterman - Jacob Rogers - Rob Petitti - E.J. Whitley - Pat McQuistan - Doug Free - James Marteen - Robert Brewster - Sam Young - B Nagy - T Smith

so we got two players out 12

YIPPEE

I am with the guy that says we need a new O line Scout

thats terrible picking

sorry but if you think Callhan can do any thing with this bunch of no name int linemen he should win coach of the year

my self I am looking at maybe 8-8 if we are lucky
