IRVING, Texas -- Changes on coaching staffs is common year to year and that will likely be no different for the Dallas Cowboys in 2016.

Secondary coach Jerome Henderson is one of six assistant coaches with an expiring contract, and he is among those who will interview for the Cleveland Browns head coaching vacancy, according to ESPN’s Ed Werder.

Henderson joined the Cowboys in 2012 to reconnect with then-defensive coordinator Rob Ryan, with whom he worked in Cleveland. He served under Monte Kiffin in 2013 and Rod Marinelli the last two years.

The Cowboys had the fifth-ranked pass defense, but the secondary accounted for only five of the Cowboys’ eight interceptions. The only interceptions by the cornerbacks came from Terrance Mitchell and Deji Olatoye. Brandon Carr has not had an interception since 2013 and Morris Claiborne did not have a pick in 11 games in 2015.

In addition to Henderson, the other assistants with expiring contracts are safeties coach Joe Baker, defensive ends coach Ben Bloom, defensive assistant Turner West and offensive assistants Marc Colombo and Kevin Carberry.

At the top of the Cowboys' coaching chain, however, there will be continuity with head coach Jason Garrett, offensive coordinator Scott Linehan, Marinelli and special-teams coordinator Rich Bisaccia. They received multi-year extensions after the 2014 season, as did a number of other assistant coaches.

“I don’t want to get into staff changes but we’re not going to have a whole lot of staff changes,” Garrett said. “I believe in Scott Linehan, I believe in Rod Marinelli, I believe in Rich Bisaccia and those guys do an outstanding job. We all have to go back and evaluate what happened in 2015 and all get better, and we’re all going to focus on doing that. That process has already begun.”

This will never happen, but I wish they'd hire a new QB coach, with a rep for developing young QBs, who they also task with adding some offensive wrinkles

I don't even know who that'd be though. Tedford? Rhett Lashlee.....Garrett could have a ginger buddy

Pretty sure this might just be the token interview.

I can't imagine Jerome being a hot assistant after how lackluster our corners have been forever.

If the CB's have been lackluster, what have the safeties been?

This will be "proof" that our coaches and executives are well respected around the league.

The leader of our Legion of Boobs secondary is being interviewed for the HC job at Cleveland.

In this we see the whole problem in Cleveland.

Babe Laufenberg said Henderson is a great coach
Whoa then we better not lose him right? As horrid as this secondary is, maybe it's the "great coach" it has keeping it from being far worse! LOL

I know you're not thinking or pretending Babe is anything other than a tool.

I heard Henderson had some stuff to say in an ESPN radio interview about the deficiencies that Dallas had in their secondary. Specifically I think the quote was: "Need to upgrade; Church and Wilcox suck". I think someone in the Browns organization heard that on the radio interview and mistook it for a desperate indulgence.

:lol

I remember the night we drafted Wilcox... Henderson was asked about the player and said he was a project athlete who would need a lot of work before he might be ready to play. I doubt he's the one who was in favor of playing him so much so early.

But really, Henderson was very highly regarded when he was in Cleveland before with dbair's fave Rob.
