If only we traded up to the 6th spot...

...to draft Fletcher Cox. Dude is a beast. He's actually outperforming JJ Watt these last 3 weeks according to PFF.

Romo of course is being gracious talking about him.

Thank Fat Rob for that. He campaigned hard for Carr and the move to get Claiborne

with Williams going south and Escobar and Wilcox not impressing anyone on a consistent basis, last year's draft is looking very shaky

Travis Frederick Center Wisconsin
Gavin Escobar Tight End San Diego State
Terrance Williams Wide Receiver Baylor
J.J. Wilcox Safety Georgia Southern
B. W. Webb Cornerback William & Mary
Joseph Randle Running Back Oklahoma State
DeVonte Holloman

Give it up, dude.

Fat Rob didn't put it in Jerry's head that Claiborne was the best CB the Cowboys have scouted since Deion Sanders.

Escobar will be a quality player if he ever gets a chance. He doesn't get enough chances right now, but IMO is now the better downfield receiving threat of our TE's. Adds a dimension other guys don't give us now but coaches waste him on bench.

Wilcox isn't making enough plays, but it is his first full yr as a starter. Might be better suited to being a true SS.

Williams is fine. He was a playmaker last yr and at the start of this yr. We don't throw the ball downfield much now, and that limits what he can do.

Webb obviously was awful. Randle might end up the starting RB next yr. Holloman's career ended prematurely, though he looked like a nice find last yr.

Even beter, what if they would have used the two picks they used to get Claiborne to trade up in the previous year and grab Watt.

They would have landed Tyron Smith and Watt in the same draft.

That had nothing to do with why they picked him there though. They traded up to draft him because 1) He was the best defensive player on their board 2) Rob said he had to have the best man cover CB's he could get to make his scheme work and 3) The trade up deal itself was a "bargain"

Damn that Rob Ryan, overruling the whole Cowboys scouting staff and Front Office.

dbair will literally defend anything the Cowboys do.

Stupid Jerry Brown needing a ride. Josh Brent is the real victim here!

yimyammer, shut your yam

lol, I need to, I just looked up the draft Fletcher Cox was in and it was the same damn draft as Claiborne (as y'all already knew). Since he went 12th, they probably wouldn't have had to give up a 2nd round pick?

Damn, that Claiborne pick makes me sick, especially considering that it was reported they never even interviewed the guy. That whiff really hurt the defense

Of course I would have simply settled for the actual choices; Brockers and Bobby Wagner, if we didn't make the trade.

Easy to say now, but Fletcher Cox is the one I was hoping we'd trade up for. It only would have taken a small trade up, not the big one we made.

But yeah, sitting tight and taking Brockers and Wagner might have been even better.

When we traded up, GloryDays was blowing me up on Twitter. I was saying it had to be Cox because we never even bothered talking to Claiborne, he was sure it was Claiboirne. I couldn't figure out why the Rams were trading away from Claiborne since they needed a CB so badly. Jeff Fisher is apparently a genius.

Anyways, if i were the Cowboys i would treat Cox like a JJ Watt type, make sure he is accounted for on every down. Philly has some nice pass rushers.
