... But it's gonna be kinda bittersweet if/when Murray breaks Emmitts single season rushing record for the team.

It's "only" 1773 yards, so barring injury, it's going to fall.

Emmitt was my childhood hero or whatever. My favorite Cowboy when I was young. Now, after the whole Cardinals thing and seeing him on ESPN those years - for whatever reason my view of him changed and I've grown a much deeper appreciation for Michael Irvin. But still.... I'll hate to see the record fall.

For some reason, maybe the yearly injuries or the repetitive fumbles, I haven't been able to gain a deep appreciation for Murray. I never wanted Emmitt to leave, but I certainly don't want the Cowboys to spend on Murray next year.

Anywho... Just a random thought.

Kinda hard to believe with as good of offensive lines and running backs in our franchises history we never had an 1800+ rusher.

That's because its kinda hard to do Mid.

Only been 20 of them in NFL history.

Totally with you. Murray isn't in Emmitt's or Dorsett's class and it's going to be weird if he breaks rushing records for this franchise.

But, I think this might be a little like the passing records where we've seen a ton of those broken because the league has made it harder than ever to play defense. Maybe less hitting being allowed during practices means less physical defenses. Or maybe it's just one of those fluky things that happens. Terrell Davis is in no way an all-time great RB IMO but he got 2000 yards.

I still bet he gets hurt, though. If we're lucky it'll be something that isn't season ending and he'll only be out a few weeks.

he already owns the team's single-game rushing record, so the season record wouldn't be too off-putting. and we know he won't catch Emmitt for the big enchilada.

Funny you mention TD. I just saw the NFL Networks A Football Life profile on him and grew an appreciation for the guy.
