RAYCESS.

Just cuz Jenkins has cornrows doesn't mean you whiteys should be scurred of him. He's played through tons of injuries like a warrior. Newman was a cancer and people defended him like he was negro Tom Landry.

Poor Jenks

Well like I said, I would like to keep jenkins this year. I dont see the point in now making an area of strength weaker, especially when are safeties are pretty average.

I would love to see all 4 corners on the field with scandrick at some sort of hybrid safety spot. Not sure who is the inside guy then, jenkins and carr just dont seem to be interior corners.

Funny how Jenkins became the red-headed stepchild seemingly overnight. We all agreed that the problem last year was Newman, Scandrick and the safeties, not Jenks (save for his injuries). We're trying to fix a problem at CB that didn't exist. This is like trading up to draft Richardson despite the presence of Murray and Felix.

Werder just said on Ben and Skin that he's been told (snicker) that we'd only trade Jenkins for a good pick, and we don't expect that to happen with his injury. So we'll probably keep him.

And yeah, bb, as usual Jenkins is a bum we need to jettison ASAP. But of course he has tons of trade value where other teams are concerned. lol

glad to hear that. I wouldnt move jenkins unless it resulted in us getting a starting center or olb that can get sacks. Otherwise use all 4 corners and be happy with it.

CB was a luxury, not a pressing need. Could the G-men have won a championship with Carr and Jenkins in their secondary last year? No reason to believe otherwise.

And Brad and Babe gave it their seal of approval.

I'm shocked.

actually I havent heard there opinions yet. My original post was that last week during the week they were the ones to make mention of 4 corners and 3 safeties.

Goose is killing jerry on the radio right now. Which is fine, but now he is celebrating the eagles again and proclaiming them incredible. there drafts have proven to be marginally better than ours. they have missed and missed with big picks recently.

I wanna hear that Goose screed. He no doubt praised the Cowboys for landing one of the few blue-chippers in the draft, but probably bashed them for overpaying or targeting the wrong position or something. Does Norm release podcasts on his site?

One of the main things people complain about with this team is a lack of forsight. We let a problem fester until it is a fullblown need. We all heard the reports the last week or so about us not resigning Jenkins. Whether it was a fear of his injuries, his play, his attitude, his new agent, or a combination of all of them. Maybe even a problem we don't know about. The team saw an opportunity at getting a potentially elite player at a spot with a looming hole, and jumped on it. But now it's stupid to do so. Why is that? Because of the position he plays?

Obviously our scouts didn't have our pet cats rated as highly as we would have liked. Remember when everyone laughed at their ratings of Sean Lee and Navorro Bowman? How'd that turn out? I hated not addressing OL/DL too. And really hate losing the 2nd. But I think this is a case of people bitching just to bitch. They ended up with a very good player. At a reasonable price to do so.

Easy zrnkill no ones bitching. We want a repeat of last years pick. Philosophical differing in opinions

No one's bitching? Go check out the draft chatter thread then see if you still think that. Comparing this trade to the Quincy Carter trade was just being philosophical, I guess.

And since you called me zrnkill, am I supposed to call you casmith? cowboyjoe maybe? Let me know.

Did you read Sturm's writeup today? It's hard to get better when you keep replacing young guys you drafted three or four years ago. If Jenkins were a flat out bust or TO-like malcontent, I could see making this move, but I still see a leaky o-line, an inept pass-rush, and non-playmaking safeties.

Didn't Tom Landry say safety should never be an overwhelming priority?

CB is a premier position and Ryan approved. I trust that Ryan has a vision and can send 6-7 for an effective pass rush now.

If they fix OL today and then go after a TE and WR this weekend, I'll be pretty content.

Never trusted jerry with 14 and 45 anyway.

I do think people need to stop hating on Jenks though. The guy is a warrior and has played well

No, I didn't. And I agree with this in theory.

But maybe they think his injury is more serious than we know. Or whatever. What we do know is they were not planning on bringing him back for whatever reason. And they struck early to cover that when they saw the chance to get a potentially elite replacement.

As for the leaky OL, inept passrush, and non playmaking safeties, value didn't dictate we take one there. I'd have loved DeCastro there. As would a lot of us. But it was proven we weren't the only team that didn't see his value there. The team has already said they wouldn't have traded up for Cox or Barron. Both were gone by 14 anyway. Was there another OL, passrusher, or safety you would have been happy with at 14? We could have traded down, I guess. But the team saw an opportunity to get a bluechip player. Instead of taking somebody they may have rated similarily to others still on the board. It is still possible that we may end up back in the 2nd for one of them.

Who's been hating on Jenkins? I must have missed this. I like Jenkins, and was looking forward to seeing him and Carr manning the CB spots this year. Was disappointed when I heard we weren't interested in bringing him back next year.
