How mediocre will Jason Garrett be next year?

Some very smart people are not great at making immediate, on-the-spot decisions. Game day coaches must make immediate, on-the-spot decisions. Just because Garrett is very smart does not mean that he'll make a great game day coach.

I hope he improves, because if he doesn't, he won't be good enough.

I like many aspects of Garrett, such as his influence on player acquisition (especially the draft). Garrett has engineered a better than average passing offense. Garrett has won over Jerry and seems to have been a positive influence on Jerry (Jerry's decision making seems less reckless and impulsive than before).

FFS ZeroClub, it's a process.

Tom Landry was like, 18-46 in 196X and Jerry Jones gave him a 10 year extension and BOOM CHAMPIONSHIPS.

Systems need to be put in place. Way I was raised.

You're wrong about Jerry giving him an extension, I think.

Ahh yes. Landry's contract extension. Jerry wanted to do only 5 years, but the scouts and Ciskowski suggested 10...and the rest is history. Who knew that Jerry would find an even better coach 50 years later.

Not guessing.

I'm just glad Jason will at least be mediocre next year as the title suggests.

NFL coaches don't make mistakes like the Arizona blunder and keep their jobs for long. Accountability.

Remember back in 1991, the Cowboys sucked? Won the Super Bowl the following year. True story. That's your 2014 Dallas Cowboys.

Wha u talkin?

Garrett paid his dues. No question him. He's been coaching since like the Obama administration and he learned from one of the most successful, great NFL coaches of all time.

He's forgotten more football than Tom Landry ever knew.

You used to be one of the best posters on this site, CMD. I used to look forward to your posts. You've changed, man. For the worse. I hate you now.

I can't wait for the spin once Garrett is gone. The next guy will be awesome and there will be a million excuses for Jerry. How do you think/post like that? Literally, whatever the Cowboys do is AMAZING, innovative, smarter, better than everyone else.

dbair can call me negative all he wants but I have no problem complimenting the Cowboys if they make a great move, players when they make great plays, coaches making the right calls, etc. How can you be a sensible person and never be critical of the organization? Have we won 25 superbowls in a row?

DCU is a "safe place" / refuge for people who don't drink the Kool-Aid. That's what I like about this place.

Reasonable people are going to see positives and negatives. It is nice to be able to talk about some of those negatives without being hooted down by a brigade of close-minded blind optimists.

What I loved about that 2009 draft was how we placed an emphasis on character. It'll show on this team.

Also, Jason Williams reminds me of Terrell Suggs and Patrick Willis.

Really love this 2009 draft class. Except the kicker. Hate kickers.

I don't think that JG is the second coming of Landry or Johnson, but I think he can be a good coach. After this year he will be 2 1/2 seasons in. I think at that point we will have enough of a field sample to make a more accurate judgment of his future.

That 1.5 season excuse is the biggest bullshit I've ever heard. Are y'all stealing that line from Hos? Garrett's been causing his mess for much longer than that.

Only in Jerryland would a clown like Ginger keep his job after the team has been noticeably mediocre to shitty since 2007. Assistant Head Coach for a 1-7 team with Super Bowl aspirations? PROMOTION!

On a side note, would you choose nostalgia of fucking Who's the Boss chick or the obvious Big Bang chick? What if you were gay?

Another brilliant post...and I don't think you can go wrong with any of those four.
