Healthy now, Wade Phillips regrets using Marc Colombo vs. Minnesota in playoffs

Wade Phillips acknowledged he should not have allowed Marc Colombo to play in the playoffs last year after the right tackle hurried back from a broken left fibula and right ankle sprain in seven weeks.

"He was hurt last year in the last game [vs. Minnesota] and I probably shouldn't have let him come back and did and ended out not doing as well he can do," Phillips said.

Colombo missed the final seven regular-season games but returned for the wild-card win against Philadelphia and graded out well. He struggled against Vikings defensive end Ray Edwards , who had three sacks, and they could not pull him out after Flozell Adams suffered a calf injury, which put Doug Free in at left tackle.

"He's fine now," Phillips said, "and he's a great technician. He works hard at what he does and he's a great effort player. He's the kind of guy I like."
