Apparently there was another mass shooting in Chicago

https://www.foxnews.com/us/chaos-erupts-multiple-people-are-shot-4th-july-parade

And already we are seeing the fingers of blame directed at guns.

From the recorded video it is clear the shooter was firing with deliberate trigger control. This sounds like a terror attack by someone. But we'll have to wait and see when they catch the guy.

It might be a good time to remember, the US is way down the list of countries with the top murder rate, despite the 2nd amendment. Many countries higher on the list have much tighter gun control laws that the US. The problem is not guns, it is culture. The US has a violent sub-culture it ignores, and we are actually importing more of this culture from south of the border where central and South America have some of the higher murder rates in the world.

I keep hearing people pointing to Australia as a model for the gun control argument. But here are some facts about Australia.

Australia is a country of 26 million people compared to the US which has 334 million

The Australia gun buyback and gun ban did not eliminate guns in Australia. In fact, it is estimated that the gun buyback program only reduced the number of banned guns in the country by 20% and the number of households with guns by 50%. But there are still plenty of guns in Australia, including the semi-automatic rifles that were banned.

Gun deaths in Australia were dropping on a annual basis before they passed their strict gun control laws. It is argued by some that the rate of decline increased after the laws were passed, but even experts in Australia to no agree that the laws had any effect on gun deaths.

Australia now has a black market for illegals guns that are being trafficked to criminals. Even Australia law enforcement authorities admit that cannot eradicate the black market. This is not hard to imagine because every attempt at prohibition in the US has resulted in similar black markets and organized crime. These include the organized crimes making billions selling alcohol in the 1920s and selling illegal drugs which continues today. There is already a black market for illegal guns in the US and there is no reason to believe a ban on guns here will not result in a new black market for guns run across the border from Mexico.

The answer to gun crimes in the US, including mass shootings is not to ban guns. The answer is to change our culture to respect life and show 0 tolerance for crimes and criminals.

There are 53 murders per day in the US on average and that number is increasing. That's 19600 murders per year.

From 2018 through 2022 there were just 202 murders that occurred in mass shootings. There are 51 deaths from mass murders this year so far. In fact, with the exception of 2017 the highest number of deaths from mass shootings in a year since 1982 is just 71. In 2017 there were 117 deaths from mass shootings mostly from the Las Vegas incident.

The average deaths per year in mass shootings for the last 4 years is 50.5, less than the 1 day average for all murders.

While there are no exact measurements for motives for murders in the US, the FBI estimates that 80% of all crimes reported are related to gangs. Some estimate gang related murders to be about 74% of all murders in the US. It is estimated that about 11,500 murders per year are gang related. Most "mass shootings" are also gang related.

While many people are outraged by recent lone gunman mass shootings, the fact is, these incidents account for only .3% of murders in the US and .08% of non-gang related mass shooting deaths.

It is disturbing that we are seeing an increase in mass shootings in the last year, especially recently, but also sad that 9 times as many people die every day at the hand of another person as those who were killed on July 4th by a lone nut case.

I would also like to point out that 6 people were killed when a man driving an SUV plowed through a Christmas parade in Waukesha, Wisconsin last November. That story was covered by major media for about 2 days before it disappeared.

Continuing in the MSM's theme of conveniently not mentioning something... PBS's Newshour dedicated over 5 minutes to discuss, with an expert Professor from Duke University, how RC3, "was able to get his guns in the first place" -- but without a mention of how it was RC3's father that made it possible for the boy to get the guns...

AP now has an article out with more details about the gun purchase:

Less than three years ago, police went to Crimo’s home following a call from a family member who said he was threatening “to kill everyone” there, according to Christopher Covelli, a spokesman for the Lake County Major Crime Task Force.

A Crimo family attorney, Steve Greenberg, told the Chicago Tribune that the father was not aware of the threats when he helped his son with the application because his son lived with another relative at the time.

"Crimo's home" ... better to have said Crimo's residence, as Crimo didn't have a private address. My understanding is that he lived with family.

"Family member"... don't know the relative... but it wasn't his father, or mother, unless they lived apart at that time...

Wait a sec, you mean bad people won't give up their guns if we ban them? Or cease trying to get one to do something bad?

This can't be Creeper, I implore you to broaden your mind. Democrats and Libtards both say guns cause people to do bad things, not vice versa.

Uvalde officer asked permission to shoot gunman outside school but got no answer, report finds

The report by the Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training Center says authorities missed other opportunities to stop the gunman before he killed 19 students and two teachers in Robb Elementary.

Even if Red Flag laws stopped the killer from buying his guns in 2019, those prohibitions are tie limited. Eventually, if he behaved he would have been allowed to make a purchase.

Also, he bought the guns in 2020, more than 2 years ago. It's not like the Uvalde shooter who purchased the guns and almost immediately went to the school to shoot a bunch of kids. This incident was not an impulse.

We have to stop chasing the latest shooting, focusing on how it happened with the intent of stopping all shootings. What we need to do if try to understand why these young men believe there is some kind of gratification or glory in shooting a bunch of innocent people. This is the problem. They also have some kind of gun thing going on in their heads. But understand there are literally 11 million AR style rifles in the hands of Americans and the overwhelming majority of them are used for peaceful purposes.

I'm not sure how we compare to the rest of the world, but game makers and movie makers here glorify "killing" and make it seem "cool" to shoot people. For years it probably wasn't a problem, because between quality parenting and quality teachers, people could message what was real vs fantasy and acceptable vs abhorrent behaviors. Parents and teachers spent tons of time with kids and could also identify quickly "problem" kids and get them help.

The other issue is extremely liberal run cities have made gang violence & crime acceptable (and even condoned in some cases) and ridiculous left wing DA's have made a habit of NOT punishing these thugs. Even when good cops find and arrest these people, these fucktard DA's and soft ass judges put them right back out on the street.

It's a severe problem now though. Kids spend far less time "playing" with others and instead spend most of their waking hours isolated playing video games. Then came the Covid lockdowns, further isolating kids and ignoring obvious mental issues developed.

There was a mall shooting in Copenhagen, Denmark last Sunday and another shooting by a lone gunman in a bar the week before in Oslo, Norway. They are rare but both countries together have a population about the size of NJ. Guns are controlled but obviously, a determined shooter can get one. In any case, the media did not cover those shootings.

Also, in the US, about 75% of mass shootings are gang related, and most others are feuds among family or acquaintances. We usually do not hear about those. Just think, the gun control people claim there have been over 300 mass shootings in the US this year already. How many have you seen in the media? Most are usually given a few seconds locally and then dropped. They only cover the ones where a lone gunman, usually a white kid, gets and AR and starts shooting random people. The media and politicians do not care about all the other shootings which account for most of the deaths because they do not help their narrative. In fact, if we gave extensive coverage to gang shooting and the illegal guns they are used then it would support the argument that banning guns would only disarm the good guys while the bad guys would continue to arm themselves.

But I agree with you. I think it is time we talk about what violence in movies and video games is doing to our kids. I am against censorship, but maybe the answer is to teach our kids about guns and to respect them. There is no glory in harming others who are not trying to harm you.

We need Common Sense Gun Control in Japan. /sarc

Notice how people are not talking much about the shooter. Just like they don't talk about the shooters in the US. The 4th of July shooter was a cross dressing leftists and Antifa supporter. But it doesn't fit the narrative.

The media, including Fox, are in full Pravda mode.

Japan may have the strictest gun control laws anywhere in the modern world.

Gun was a HOMEMADE shotgun.

Update- Abe has officially passed away.

Trump was very close to Abe and they liked each other a lot. Abe was also a very strong pro-freedom/anti-Communist politician.

If you had any doubts about Democrats intentions to take our guns away immediately or incrementally, and to use mass shootings as a means of achieving their goal, the NJ governor just signed into law 7 new gun control bills yesterday, none of which had anything to do with the mass shootings we experienced recently.

https://www.northjersey.com/story/n...05/nj-gun-laws-scotus-gun-ruling/65366856007/

Most of the new laws seek to eliminate hand guns and handgun ammunition in the state, since assault style rifles are already banned. But .50 caliber guns? When was a .50 cal used in one of these shootings? Never. Yet they are now banned in NJ. Also, notice the new requirement for new residents to register their firearms when they move to NJ from out of state. I am researching the new requirement to register the sale of handgun ammo. I am not sure when this takes effect or what it means to online purchases of ammo, but I think it is aimed at eliminating online ammo sales to NJ residents.

These laws are all spiteful acts of Democrats upset over the Supreme Court's recent decision prohibiting states from using demonstrated need as a criteria for issuing concealed carry permits.

I believe these laws will be challenged in the courts and I think some, will be overturned by the Supreme Court. But make no mistake, our freedoms are under attack.
