The only returning starter in the Cowboys secondary may not be able to start training camp next week.

Todd Archer of ESPNDallas.com reports that safety Gerald Sensabaugh could miss the start of camp after a recent arthoscopic knee surgery. The procedure was described as a clean-up, which is what teams and players say when trying to minimize the alarm.

Sensabaugh missed several OTA workouts and the June minicamp because of soreness in the right knee.

The Cowboys report to their facility July 25, but veterans don’t begin practice i Oxnard, Calif., until July 30. It’s unclear how much Sensabaugh will be able to do then.

With new corners Brandon Carr and Morris Claiborne and safety Brodney Pool, Sensabaugh was the lone link to last year’s defensive backfield.

Now former undrafted rookie Barry Church and fourth-rounder Matt Johnson will have a chance at more repetitions early in camp.

Sensabaugh signed a five-year extension last December, and has been durable for the Cowboys, missing just one game in three years.

It's always a few days and then it turns into a few weeks.

Can't trust anything they say out there about injuries.

The last thing we need is to lose sensebaugh all camp like we lost Newman last year.
