I know a lot of people hate Galloway (well maybe not here since he's called Jerry a Total Football Idiot for years) but he does have good sources with every local sports team, including the Cowboys.
He said when the news first came out about Payton's voided contract situation, he immediately gave it a 50% chance that he'd come here. But as he thought about it, he quickly made that a very low number -- 5 or maybe 10%.
Today he said that he's putting it back at 50-50 because he's hearing that Jerry is interested and would pay the price. Says he hears that Jerry will go $8 million a year, which is more than the $7 the Saints had on the table and far more than Jerry has ever paid a coach.
Said the only reason he doesn't put it higher is that he doesn't know if Payton would actually pull the trigger and leave New Orleans when it came time to do it. But he knows Payton is seriously interested.
