Linebacker Keith Brooking probably put the best label on training camp I've ever heard. He called it, "a necessary evil." Four to five weeks of killing yourself to get ready for a season? Yeah, that sounds like an accurate description. But Brooking said players learn exactly what they need to know about themselves and teammates.

"Camp is a necessary evil to get to where we need to be. There’s never been a camp experience in my football career that’s been easy. It’s impossible. This is a man’s game. This is the point in the season where players start to separate themselves from others. You may be able to fake it for a couple of days. But the grind of 4-5 weeks of this, your true colors are eventually going to come out. You learn about your teammates and the guys you can count on on Sundays."
