Id consider it if we got a haul of picks because that way you can get a fair shot at teddy bridgewater. Shit get two 1sts for ware.

But then it's like, look At Orton he thinks he's a person sitting on the couch.
Would anyone trade out of #1 for Clowney?

Maybe we should just blow it up and suck for Clowney.

Bragging about a short run in which his win % is lesser than romos over 7 years

1-7 team that year with Romo, 5-3 without

I am not saying we couldnt have gone 5-3 (or better) that half of season with Romo, but the fact that we did it without him (and on what had been a bad team) shows me that while he is very valuable here, losing him is not going to be the end of the world either.

Why so dramatic? He's a good qb. He can win a big game. The team is average. These are our facts.

Maybe I'm biased because the cowboys win % is twice as high with him than without him in my lifetime.

I've been a fan of the team since 1975. The vast majority of that time, we've been blessed with good to outstanding QB play.

Just because we had Quincy Carter, Vinny and Drew Bledsoe for a few short years doesnt mean we'll revert to that again. Plus the guy responsible for two of those three aint here anymore.

What does that have to do with you thinking romo can't win? You think it's an indictment of romo but it's not. He is who he is. 7 straight 4thQ comebacks or whatever last year, he didn't just choke in the last run of those. It's law of averages. The fact he didn't screw up a comeback attempt at any point before that is surprising given the degree of difficulty.

If Alex Smith can net the 34th overall, I would say Romo could get two firsts.

I'd strongly consider taking the Cards/Bills first this year and first next year. I'd be willing to throw away a year if it meant to get the cap in order and a fresh start with a QB.

We could have the 8th and 18th overall this year. Why not get Sheldon Richardson and Cooper/Warmack this year and build the trenches. Plus you have two firsts next year.

Sign Fitzpatrick. Tank the season like the Redskins did. Have plenty of cap room with Romo and Spencer gone....Go after Jonny Football and lets get this shit goin!!

I guess I am looking at this rationally. The fact is the team didnt collapse without him the one year he didnt play half the season (and it easily could have, and no one would have been surprised)

He has reached the age where it is becoming highly unlikely that his play is going to get better. His ability to drive the ball downfield in the intermediate to deep areas gets worse every year. He apparently is hurting enough physicially that he will almost never put the ball down and run with it, even when he has 3 acres of room to run.

I think a smart organization (of which we arnt one) would probably at least entertain the idea of not signing Romo to a mega extension, thus creating a potentially more sticky cap situation down the road on a guy that 1) is older 2) isnt likely to get better and 3) has never really won anything anyway. Instead look to move him while his value is at the most we can reasonably hope for at this time, and while we have at least a proven veteran behind him that could at least bridge the gap until a new guy was ready in a season or two. Doing so gets them more draft picks and creates more cap space today and down the road, which allows them to address more areas of the team.

If he's here I'm happy we have him and will certainly continue to hope we win all our games, but the prudent thing (something Jerry rarely does) would be to consider moving him now instead of further handicapping the teams cap situation, potentially wasting another season or two with Romo and then getting nothing in return when we have to let him go other than some huge dead money cap charge at the end.

Not only did they give up the 2nd to get Smith, they gave up another pick next year.

I agree, I think one of these QB desperate teams would give us two firsts for Romo, or at the least a 1st and some other picks.

I would at least field offers from teams. If they lowball you can tell them to go fuck themselves. You have to at least see what his value would be to a team like the Vikings who may feel they are close to winning. Plus they have two firsts this year.

I really wouldnt be all that excited about trading Romo for only two firsts if both are in the 20's, same draft or not.

Good point. It would have to be top ten this year for sure. Again...the Bengals fleeced the Raiders for a first and 2nd. Working out pretty well for them. (although they had a nice plan for getting Dalton)

It couldnt hurt to just at least call Buffalo, New York or Arizona and see what they would offer.

Throw in Oakland too, they are reportedly going to release Palmer at some point if he doesnt take a paycut.

Shouldn't it tell you something that if we trade him fans will look to get value out of ware and witten also?

If that's the road you want to go down then fine, but be prepared for then potential of whoever the new qb is to be a deer in the headlights with this team. At times the team is just comical in its unpreparedness. Talkin bout line people up, play clock winding down as costa giggles to himself, the snap is low, pick it up off the ground fire a money shot to Harris for the 2 point conversion. Then you got to do it all over again on the last drive or else David bair will throw his cowboy pajamas in the fireplace

That 4th down snap on the ground vs Washington romo picked up and threw a strike to Harris for the Td was just an absurd play.

I think I am almost ready to rewatch this season. At least there are plays like that.
