DeMarco Murray's rocky tenure with the Philadelphia Eagles is suddenly over.
NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Monday that the Tennessee Titans will acquire the former NFL rushing champion from the Eagles in a trade. The terms of the deal have yet to be disclosed.
The trade isn't complete until Wednesday.
Murray altered his contract to accommodate the trade, but he did not lose his $21 million in guaranteed money, per Rapoport, according to a source informed of the deal.
News of Murray's trade comes on the same daythe Eagles traded linebacker Kiko Alonso and cornerback Byron Maxwell to the Dolphins. Dealing away Murray is the boldest announcement yet by general manager Howie Roseman that the Eagles fully intend to completely wipe away the Chip Kelly era in Philadelphia.
Murray led the league with 1,845 yards and 13 touchdowns with the Cowboys in 2014, earning NFL Offensive Of The Year honors. He parlayed that into a five-year, $40 million contract -- including $20 million guaranteed -- with the Eagleslast March. But Murray was unable to carry the magic over from Dallas. He didn't seem to bring to Philly the same burst and he slumped to just 702 yards on 3.6 yards per attempt in an offense that didn't suit is running style.
Obviously, the Titans are banking on last year being an anomaly. Murray, 28, gives second-year quarterback Marcus Mariota a starting running back who can handle a big workload in Mike Mularkey's "exotic smashmouth" attack. With Murray in the fold, there is even more reason to think the Titans will use their first-round pick -- currently No. 1 overall -- on improving their woeful offensive line.

Looks like they traded Kiko Alonso and Byron Maxwell to the Dolphins as well.

so we couldn't cut Carr last year because of cap implications, but they can trade three high priced players with no consequences?

Yes, they were not handcuffed by their owner slash GM's ego.

why the fuck would Murray want to go to another Kelly type system featuring Kelly's old qb? he needs the I formation with a QB under center.

Don't think this really affects us, but their losing Alonso could be a big help. He's pretty damn good.

It's strange but I hated on him for going to the Eagles. Like it was a stab in the back going to our division rival

Now that he's with the Titans I don't feel the same way. Don't really care and he is now irrelevant

Weird
